Single Travellers
When booking this tour, solo travellers will be presented with three options:
1 - Single Supplement
By paying an additional ₹138,450.00 per person, in addition to the twin-share price, you guarantee the privacy of your room throughout the entire trip.
Please note when choosing Single Supplement for this tour, your room will generally consist of a double or semi-double bed. Occasionally there may be a hotel that will provide a single bedded room for single travellers. All rooms provided to single travellers will be smaller than the twin rooms we recommend for two people. Unfortunately, this is typical for Japan, as the cost to solely occupy a twin-size room is incredibly high. We appreciate your understanding.
2- Shared Room with a known friend
If travelling together with a friend, you can opt to share your room with him/her and avoid paying a single supplement.
You and your friend can create a unique booking each. Creating a unique booking, gives each of you the flexibility of making different travel arrangements (such as adding extra accommodation, flights, etc), making separate payments and having individual access to our Traveller Hub
During the purchase path, you will need to provide your friend’s booking ID (if known) or at a minimum, your friend’s full name.
If you believe you may prevent your travelling companion from enjoying a peaceful night’s rest, please refrain from selecting this option.
You will meet your rooming companion at the beginning of your tour.
Should you wish to change from a shared room to a solo room, this would be at the cost of the traveller who has requested to change the room type. Changes to room configuration during the tour must be organised by travellers directly with the hotel, subject to availability and additional charges.
This option is not available on additional accommodation booked before or after.

We strongly recommend all travellers have a policy that also covers personal liability, cancellation, curtailment and loss of luggage or personal effects. For international tours, you will be asked by your tour leader for your travel insurance details if they were not already added to your Traveller Hub account pre-departure.
If you have credit card insurance your Inspiring Vacations tour leader or local guide may require details of the participating insurer/underwriter, the level of coverage, policy number, and emergency contact number rather than the bank's name and your credit card details. The good news is you all have at least one thing in common: a love of travel and exploration. Your fellow travellers will probably come from different parts of the world, and fall into different age groups. We ask you to be understanding of the various needs and preferences of your group—patience with your fellow travellers is sometimes required for the overall benefit of the group. |
We kindly ask that when you are requested to be at a place at a certain time that you respect this request from your tour leader or local guide. Due to privacy reasons, we are unable to provide you with contact details and any personal information about your fellow travellers booked on your trip before departure.
Community Guidelines
Inspiring Vacations does not tolerate any kind of violence, harassment (whether physical, verbal or sexual), or disrespect toward fellow travellers, our teams (Inspiring Vacations Tour Leaders and local expert guides) or local communities.
Any behaviour that prevents your Inspiring Vacations Tour Leader from continuing the itinerary as planned, breaks local laws or opposes any of these guidelines, may result in Inspiring Vacations removing you from the tour.
If something concerns you during your travels, please speak to your Inspiring Vacations Tour Leader immediately. Alternatively, when you are on-tour and require immediate support you can contact our Customer Support team and select the “On-Tour” option when listening to the options.
Connect with fellow travellers on Facebook
During your booking journey, you might have received an email inviting you to join a special Facebook group. This vibrant online community is exclusively for Inspiring Vacations travellers wanting to connect, share, and inspire one another. Joining this group unlocks a wealth of information and connections. Swap travel tips, chat with other members who have been where you’re going, and even meet others interested in travelling together for your next adventure.
We also regularly host insightful webinars featuring travel experts who share their tips and tricks for navigating your destination and maximising your itinerary. Don't miss out on this amazing opportunity to connect, learn, and get even more excited about your upcoming tour!
Inspiring Vacations Tour Leader vs. Local Guide
While both tour leaders and local guides enrich your travel experience, their roles differ. Tour leaders, who often accompany you for the entire tour, handle logistics, ensure smooth sailing of the itinerary, and act as your point of contact for any concerns. They might provide general information about destinations, but in-depth historical or cultural knowledge often comes from local guides. Local guides, frequently native to the area, lead tours at specific sites or attractions, offering a deeper understanding of the local history, art, or way of life.
Coach Transportation
The size of your coach will comfortably accommodate your group. There's usually room for some extra seats, ensuring a relaxing journey. Your luggage will be safely stored either underneath the coach or in a dedicated trailer.
While the exact coach style may vary depending on the departure, all our coaches offer comfortable seating. Keep in mind that Wi-Fi and charging outlets might not always be available. To stay connected and avoid dead batteries, we recommend fully charging your devices beforehand or bringing a portable charger.
For longer journeys, we'll make sure to include ample restroom breaks along the way, so you can freshen up and recharge at your convenience, as facilities are not on-board the coach.
Itinerary Changes
Sometimes, unexpected things can happen, like unpredictable weather or higher-than-usual crowds at attractions. In these situations, your tour leader might need to adjust the itinerary slightly to improve your overall experience.
This flexibility ensures you get the most out of your tour! Your tour leader will always keep you informed of any changes and explain the reasoning behind them. Remember, when travelling with a group, sometimes going with the flow can lead to even more amazing experiences.
Staying Connected
If you want to stay connected and access reliable internet while on tour, there are a few options available. It is possible to purchase a virtual sim and we recommend contacting your mobile phone provider for assistance. You can add a roaming data plan to your existing phone contract is another option, albeit an expensive one. You will need to arrange this before departure.
We also recommend downloading WhatsApp and using this to communicate with other group members while on tour, and of course, after the tour if you’d like to stay in touch. Our tour leaders may also use this as a means of communicating essential tour information with you, as well as if you choose to add-on transfers to your booking, as your driver may use this to confirm arrangements with you.
Getting Around
This tour takes you through the heart of Ancient Greece before you continue to the Greek Islands for independent exploration. On the mainland, you’ll travel by coach with regular comfort stops to stretch your legs, use the restroom, and enjoy refreshments. Lunch breaks are typically at convenient rest stops where the group can gather and relax.
Once you reach the Greek Islands, all arrangements are taken care of, including transfers and accommodations, allowing you to explore at your own pace. Fast ferries connect the islands, giving you the freedom to discover charming villages, pristine beaches, and local culture independently. You will be responsible for managing your own luggage during ferry transfers, so we recommend packing light and using easy-to-carry luggage for a smooth journey.
Hotel Ratings
Star ratings can differ between countries, reflecting diverse standards and amenities. To give you the most accurate picture possible, we don't just rely on a single source for hotel ratings. We go beyond by researching various trusted travel websites like Tripadvisor and Booking.com. This allows us to analyse a wider range of genuine customer reviews and experiences, giving you a well-rounded understanding of the hotel's typical star rating.
This means you can book with confidence, knowing the hotel has a strong track record of satisfied guests.

Climate
Travelling through Greece and the Greek Islands offers a diverse climate experience depending on the time of year. In Athens and mainland Greece, summers (June to August) can be hot, with temperatures reaching the high 30s°C (mid-90s°F), especially in inland areas. The coastal regions tend to have milder temperatures, but it’s still quite warm, perfect for sightseeing and enjoying the Mediterranean vibe. Winters (December to February) are generally mild, though temperatures can drop in the evenings and in the mountainous areas.
On the Greek Islands, summer brings long, sunny days, with temperatures often exceeding 30°C (86°F), making it ideal for beach days and cruising. The islands, especially those in the Cyclades like Mykonos and Santorini, can get very warm in the peak summer months, so be prepared for heat. Spring and autumn are fantastic times to visit, with pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and the beautiful landscapes in full bloom or vibrant with fall colors.
Throughout the year, it's advisable to prepare for varying weather conditions, especially with cooler evenings and the possibility of rain in the off-season, so packing layers and sun protection is essential.
Currency and ATMs
In Greece, the currency is the Euro (EUR). ATMs are widely available in cities, towns, and popular tourist areas, accepting major international credit and debit cards. Many shops, restaurants, and hotels—especially in urban centers like Athens, Mykonos, and Santorini—also accept card payments. However, it’s advisable to carry some cash for smaller purchases, particularly in rural areas or smaller villages where card acceptance may be limited.
During your independent exploration of the Greek Islands, you’ll find ATMs at most major ports and towns, but it’s a good idea to have some cash on hand for local purchases, tips, or small expenses in places where cards may not be accepted. Carrying smaller denominations can be especially convenient when shopping at local markets or enjoying traditional island cafés.
Food and Allergies
Travelling through Greece and the Greek Islands offers a delightful culinary journey, rich in fresh ingredients and ancient flavors. Greek cuisine is renowned for its use of olive oil, fresh vegetables, seafood, and herbs. You'll indulge in dishes like moussaka (a layered eggplant casserole), souvlaki (grilled meat skewers), tzatziki (yogurt-based dip), and baklava (a sweet pastry). Each island brings its own unique twist to Greek cuisine, with specialties like fresh seafood in Santorini, hearty lamb dishes in Crete, and traditional meze platters across the mainland.
During your trip with Inspiring Vacations, you'll experience these mouthwatering flavors through both group meals and the flexibility to explore local dining on your own. While many meals will be shared with the group, some meals will be at your own expense, allowing you the freedom to try different restaurants and discover hidden culinary gems.
If you have any dietary restrictions or food allergies, please inform our Customer Support Team prior to departure, so we can make necessary arrangements. Your Inspiring Vacations Tour Leader will also be able to offer suggestions for the best places to eat during your trip and, if needed, provide information on the ingredients in certain dishes. However, it remains your responsibility to ensure that meals do not contain ingredients that you need to avoid. Enjoy the vast variety of tastes Greece has to offer!
Local Customs
In Greece and the Greek Islands, greetings are typically warm and friendly, often accompanied by a handshake or, in more informal settings, a hug or kiss on both cheeks. As a visitor, you’ll notice that meal times are later than in many other countries, with lunch generally served between 1:30 PM and 3:30 PM and dinner starting from around 8 PM, sometimes even later. Greeks take great pride in their food and meals are often leisurely affairs, offering a great opportunity to enjoy the company of friends and family.
When visiting churches and archaeological sites, it's important to dress modestly, especially when entering religious locations like monasteries or the sacred Acropolis. For men and women alike, this typically means covering shoulders and avoiding short shorts or skirts. In more traditional or rural areas, it’s also polite to dress conservatively.
Greek culture is laid-back, and hospitality is at the heart of the community. It’s common to share food and drink, and you’ll find that meals are often enjoyed with a sense of community and celebration. When visiting the islands, especially smaller towns and villages, you’ll notice a slower pace of life, and it’s important to embrace this relaxed atmosphere and not rush through experiences.
Respecting these local customs will enhance your trip, helping you connect more meaningfully with locals and appreciate Greece’s rich cultural heritage.
Dress Code
In Greece and the Greek Islands, casual attire is perfectly acceptable for most activities, especially in urban settings like Athens. For dining at local tavernas or casual restaurants, comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing is ideal. However, for more formal occasions or upscale restaurants, a smart-casual dress code may be expected, particularly in the evening.
When visiting religious sites, monasteries, or villages, it's important to dress modestly. Both men and women should cover their shoulders and avoid wearing revealing clothing. For women, carrying a scarf to cover your head when entering monasteries or churches is a respectful gesture. Lightweight, loose-fitting clothing is ideal for the warm Mediterranean climate, especially in summer months.
Respecting these local dress customs will ensure you blend in with local traditions and enhance your cultural experience while exploring the rich history and landscapes of Greece and its islands.
Tipping Your Leader
Tipping is a common practice in Greece, and it's a way to show appreciation for excellent service. While gratuities are not mandatory, they are always appreciated by the tour leader and bus driver for their hard work in ensuring that your trip runs smoothly.
Tour Leader: It is customary to tip your tour leader at the end of your tour for their guidance, assistance, and dedication to making your experience enjoyable. We recommend a tip of approximately €5-€7 per person, per day. This is entirely at your discretion and should reflect your satisfaction with their services.
Bus Driver: Your bus driver plays an important role in safely transporting you throughout the journey. A tip for the bus driver is typically around €2-€3 per person, per day. Again, this is not mandatory, but it’s a thoughtful gesture to acknowledge their efforts.
Tipping is always given in cash and directly to the tour leader and bus driver at the end of the tour or during your final day. Please note that these amounts are just a guideline, and you are free to adjust based on the level of service you feel you have received.
Tipping is a way to express your gratitude for exceptional service, and your generosity will be greatly appreciated by the staff who help to make your experience in Greece unforgettable.
Peak Travel Times
Greece and the Greek Islands experience peak travel times based on the seasons and the weather, which can influence both pricing and availability.
Greece sees its peak season from June to August. During this time, the weather is warm and sunny, with temperatures often soaring above 30°C (86°F), especially on the mainland and the islands. Popular cities like Athens and Santorini become bustling with tourists, and you can expect higher prices for accommodations and attractions. These months are ideal for beach lovers and those looking to soak in the vibrant atmosphere of Greece’s bustling cities and islands.
Spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) are considered the best times to visit for more pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and lower prices. This is when the weather is still warm, but it’s more comfortable for sightseeing, especially when exploring historical sites like the Acropolis and Delphi or the stunning landscapes of the Peloponnese and Crete.
The Greek Islands, such as Mykonos, Crete, and Rhodes, experience their peak season during July and August, when many people flock to the beaches and seaside resorts. However, if you prefer a quieter, more relaxed experience with better availability and lower prices, May and September are perfect months to visit.
It’s also important to note that Greece can get quite crowded during public holidays and local festivals (such as Easter in April or religious celebrations in the summer), so if you wish to avoid crowds, plan your trip for the shoulder seasons.
Safety and Security
Before departing, we highly recommend checking your government’s travel advice for the most up-to-date information on safety and security. It’s important to ensure that your travel insurance covers all destinations and activities included in your itinerary. Your personal safety is a priority, and staying informed will help you make the best decisions during your travels.
Your Inspiring Vacations Tour Leader or local guide will accompany you on all included activities as outlined in the itinerary. However, you'll also have free time to explore on your own. While your Tour Leader or local guide will be available to assist you with recommendations and advice during your free time, please note that Inspiring Vacations is not responsible for the safety or standards of any activities you choose outside the itinerary. Always use your judgment when selecting activities or excursions on your own.
It’s also important to note that your Inspiring Vacations Tour Leader or local guide has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the itinerary if necessary due to safety concerns or unforeseen circumstances.
Greece and the Greek Islands are generally safe destinations for travelers. As with any travel, using common sense and staying alert in busy tourist areas is essential. Pickpocketing can occasionally occur in crowded places, particularly in Athens, Santorini, or other popular tourist spots. Keep your belongings secure and be mindful of your surroundings, especially in busy markets or on public transportation.
While Greece is considered safe for solo travelers, we recommend taking precautions when out in unfamiliar areas, especially at night. Use reputable transportation services and avoid walking alone in poorly lit or unfamiliar streets. Always ensure that you are aware of the safety of your surroundings, particularly when in less touristy or rural areas.
Respect for local customs and traditions is also important. In Greece, it is common to greet people with a friendly handshake or a kiss on both cheeks, and dressing modestly is encouraged, particularly when visiting religious sites. Be respectful when exploring cultural landmarks and churches, as these places hold significant value to the local community.
By remaining aware of your surroundings, practicing common-sense safety measures, and respecting the local culture, you’ll have a safe and memorable experience while exploring Greece and the Greek Islands.
