Meet Paul, Team Leader of our Product Team

Since joining Inspiring Vacations as a Product Manager in early 2019, Paul has flourished and has recently taken on the role of Team Leader. Here are Paul’s thoughts about joining Inspiring Vacations and how he has found a better way.

Why did you join the Inspiring Vacations team?
Joining Inspiring Vacations as a Product Manager five months ago would have to be one of the best things I have done, both professionally and personally. From day one I felt welcomed, valued and challenged. Fast forward five months, and I have been entrusted with the role of Team Leader of the wider Product team. This rate of growth and development is a testament to the Inspiring Vacations DNA.

What do you love about your job?

Interacting with people from all over the world on a daily basis, researching new product opportunities and destinations, and hearing feedback from happy travellers after their trips. I feel like I am constantly travelling the world!

What are your favourite company perks?
Work-life balance is key in our culture. I have just returned from experiencing our newest Egypt tour; we always have staff members on the road testing our products. Everyone looks forward to our company lunches, and over 30 of us have signed up for the Melbourne Marathon in October, courtesy of Inspiring Vacations. In addition to these events and opportunities, the flexible work option is a huge benefit. Most staff work from home a day or two a week, or from their hotel on a tour, or wherever they can get Wi-Fi. We even had someone online in northern Greenland! Whether it’s a toddler or a puppy, these flexible work options allow myself and the team to maintain a healthy work-life balance and to focus on the things most important in life.

How would you describe the company culture?
One of the first things I noticed when I joined was the commitment to customer service. Everyone in the company spends a few hours a week speaking with our customers. This creates a positive and encouraging workplace where we all have something in common: the customer. This collaborative approach is echoed throughout all areas of the business. Whether you have worked here for a day or a year, every idea is respected and anyone can get involved in projects. We all have a part to play in the success of the business.

What would you say to people considering joining our team? Working for such a fast-moving, innovative company can present its own challenges, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. The next six months will be very exciting as we expand on a global scale, and I feel privileged to be a part of the journey.
