Start with a peaceful walk through the serene grounds of Meiji Shrine, then explore the bustling districts of Akihabara and Ueno, before taking in the elegance of the Imperial Palace Outer Gardens.
Immerse yourself in the rich history of Asakusa, where you can wander ancient temples, browse for unique souvenirs, enjoy traditional Matcha tea, and sample a flavorful Japanese Izakaya lunch.
In the afternoon, ascend to the Tokyo Skytree for breathtaking, panoramic views from the 350th-floor observation deck, taking in the sprawling metropolis below.
Once a quiet fishing village, Yokohama has grown into one of Japan’s largest ports and serves as a gateway to Tokyo. Here, ancient traditions coexist with modern culture, creating a city like no other.
Enjoy your final hours in Tokyo at your leisure before boarding your cruise in the afternoon.
Nestled in the shadow of Mount Fuji, Shimizu is one of Japan’s most scenic ports. Stroll through the fragrant pine groves of Miho, home to a 650-year-old Japanese black pine, or enjoy sweeping views of Mount Fuji from the forested hill of Nihondaira.
Take a bay cruise to admire the sparkling seascapes, explore Japan’s first sushi museum, or step back in time at the archaeological site of Toro, which offers a glimpse of feudal life from 200 BC. Browse for traditional wooden crafts and regional fabrics, and treat yourself to yokan, a classic sweet jellied confection unique to the area.
Discover the energetic city of Osaka, known for its vibrant street life, rich history, and culinary delights. Step back in time at the iconic Osaka Castle, a symbol of the city’s samurai heritage surrounded by scenic gardens and moats. Immerse yourself in the bustling atmosphere of Dotonbori, where neon lights, lively eateries, and street performers bring the city’s energy to life. For sweeping panoramic views, ascend the Tsutenkaku Observation Tower, an iconic landmark offering a unique perspective over this dynamic metropolis.
Osaka is often called the “nation’s kitchen” for its legendary food culture, from savory takoyaki and okonomiyaki to fresh sushi and lively street snacks, making it a city that delights both the senses and the spirit.
Enjoy another day at sea and indulge in everything your floating resort has to offer.
Nestled between the mountains and the sea, Sendai is fondly known as the “City of Trees,” a name that becomes obvious as you wander its green streets and parks. The city is rich in history, with temples, shrines, and museums offering a glimpse into the region’s storied past. Culinary experiences abound, from delicious street food and local specialties to refined Michelin-starred dining, all complemented by charming boutique shops. Venture beyond the city to discover dormant volcanoes, rolling hills, and soothing hot springs, immersing yourself in the natural beauty of the surrounding Tohoku region.
The best way to take in Hakodate is from the summit of Mount Hakodate, where a gondola ride delivers you to an observation deck with breathtaking panoramic views of the city and bay. Step back in time at Fort Goryokaku, a star-shaped fortress steeped in history and the site of pivotal battles that shaped modern Japan. Stroll the sloping streets of the city and savor fresh seafood at the Hakodate Morning Market, where a traditional kaisen-don (seafood rice bowl) provides the perfect taste of Hokkaido’s ocean bounty.
In Aomori, step back in time at archaeological sites, historic villages, and cultural museums that showcase the region’s rich heritage. Food lovers can create their own donburi from fresh local seafood at the Furukawa Fish Market, while nature enthusiasts can visit nearby apple orchards to sample crisp red and green apples, homemade jams, and fresh apple juice.
Set along the Sea of Japan, Akita and its surrounding prefecture are rich in natural beauty. Relax in the region’s famous hot springs, or onsen, including Tamagawa Onsen, known for its rare, mineral-rich stones believed to offer health benefits. Explore pristine beech forests, visit Lake Tazawa, Japan’s deepest lake, and enjoy seasonal cherry blossoms in Senshu Park. History enthusiasts can tour the city’s exceptionally preserved samurai district by rickshaw, while panoramic 360-degree views await from Selion Tower.
Step into history in Kanazawa, the heart of Ishikawa Prefecture, where the Edo Period’s samurai culture comes alive. Remarkably, Kanazawa survived World War II largely intact, preserving the charm of its old castle town, including the Nagamachi Samurai District and historic chaya entertainment streets. Capture the rows of teahouses in the geisha district, explore beautiful temples, immerse yourself in diverse museums, and wander the bustling market that has thrived since 1721. Just an hour away, Kaga Onsen offers healing hot springs perfect for a relaxing day trip.
Sakaiminato is Western Japan’s primary fishing port, celebrated for its fresh seafood, especially snow crab, a delicacy prized around the world. Beyond its maritime offerings, the city is infused with folklore, brought to life through hundreds of bronze “Yokai” statues—mysterious spirit monsters from Japanese legend. Stroll along Kitaro Road, where the whimsical creations of renowned local artist Shigeru Mizuki line the streets, offering a charming blend of art, culture, and mythology.
Enjoy another day at sea and indulge in everything your floating resort has to offer.

Visas & Entry Requirements
Many countries require a visa and obtaining the correct visa for your tour and any countries you may transit through is your responsibility. We recommend you check your visa requirements as soon as you have booked your tour. This will ensure you have time to prepare your documents and for your visa application to be processed. You can check the visa entry requirements for your nationality via our page here:
https://inspiringvacations-8357211.hs-sites.com/visa-information
You’ll need a valid passport to travel internationally and most countries require your passport to have a minimum of 6 months validity, so remember to check the expiry date.
We need your passport information to get everything ready for your tour so the information on your booking must match your passport exactly. Please take care to provide the correct details. We recommend carrying a copy of the photo page of your passport while travelling and leaving a copy at home with family or friends.
Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is strongly recommended on all our tours. We require that at a minimum you are covered for medical expenses including emergency repatriation. It is also important to consider forced pre-tour cancellations and how your chosen insurance policy may cover such circumstances, so please keep this in mind when choosing your provider.
We strongly recommend all travellers have a policy that also covers personal liability, cancellation, curtailment and loss of luggage or personal effects. For international tours, you will be asked by your tour leader for your travel insurance details if they were not already added to your Traveller Hub account pre-departure.
If you have credit card insurance your Inspiring Vacations tour leader or local guide may require details of the participating insurer/underwriter, the level of coverage, policy number, and emergency contact number rather than the bank's name and your credit card details. Please contact your bank for these details before arriving in-country.
Before you depart, you will be asked to submit your Travel Insurance details through the booking holder's Traveller Hub account through the Inspiring Vacations website. This is to ensure that we have this information readily available should we ever need it.
