Enjoy a guided walking tour before continuing towards Slovenia where we’ll enjoy dinner and overnight in the picturesque Bled Lake area.
We’ll begin the day with a tour of Lake Bled, a glacial lake at the edge of the Julian Alps and one of the most beloved destinations in Slovenia. After a boat ride, you’ll have time to spend as you wish, before touring 1000-year-old Bled Castle. On a clear day, Slovenia’s highest mountain, Mount Triglav, is visible from here. Lake Bohinj, the country’s largest natural lake, is our final stop today. Dinner will be at your own leisure this evening.
Today we’re off to Austria! Our first stop will be the historic county of Carinthia, known for its impressive peaks, lush valleys and clear bathing lakes. We’ll enjoy a panoramic tour of the 16.5-km long Lake Wörth (Wörthersee). We’ll continue to the charming Klagenfurt, a university town with the beautiful 16th-century Lindworm fountain dominating the city square, the Alt Platz. We’ll return to the Bled Lake area and enjoy lunch in the Klagenfurt area.
After breakfast we’ll continue our journey towards Croatia. Our first stop will be the wondrous, 24 km- long Postojna Caves, one of the largest underground cave systems in Europe and Predjama Castle. Situated on a 123-metre-high cliff near the caves, the castle is more than 800-years-old and holds the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest cave castle. We’ll arrive at the coastal town of Rovinj in the late afternoon where we’ll enjoy dinner after checking in.
Today we’ll travel by bus to the Istrian Coast which offers idyllic views across Croatia and nearby Italy, but with fewer crowds. Starting with a walk through the labyrinth of cobbled streets, the Roman history of this stunning peninsula is revealed, before venturing inland to sample some renowned local products including truffle and extra virgin olive oil. We end the day with a visit to one of the best-preserved amphitheatres in the world, the jewel of Pula, a 3000-year-old city, administrative centre of Istria.
After breakfast and checking out, today’s destination is the Plitvice area. Our first stop is Opatija, a picturesque little town full of magnificent villas and old hotels and at one time, a famous winter resort of the Austrian elite. Spend time here as you wish: take a stroll through Lungomare promenade, tour Villa Angiolina which was built in 1844, as well the Croatian Museum of Tourism. Don’t forget to make time for a coffee break with million-dollar views at Caffé Wagner. After we pass Gorski Kotar, a mountainous region, we’ll arrive at a small village called Fužine where we’ll explore the Vrelo Cave. The cave, estimated to be 3.5-4 million years old, was discovered by chance in the 1950s during the construction of the Bajer Reservoir. Lunch today will be a mix of traditional Croatian menu items plus local specialty dishes and vegetarian options at restaurant Bitoraj. Through the lush green scenery, our trip continues to Plitvice Lakes where we’ll check in for the evening.
After breakfast and check out, we’ll travel by coach to the unforgettable labyrinth of evergreen woods, lakes and stunning waterfalls of UNESCO-protected Plitvice Lakes National Park. Croatia’s oldest national park was founded in 1949 and is situated in the mountainous karst area, bordering Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our journey continues towards Split for a short evening walk through the city’s historical centre which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On our walking tour, we’ll explore 4th-century Diocletian's Palace (also UNESCO-protected) built by the Roman emperor Diocletian, visit the Grgur Ninski Statue, and the Cathedral and Bell Tower of Saint Domnius.
After breakfast, we bid farewell to Spilt and continue our travels by sea on board the Katarina Line.
We will depart Split harbour at 1pm southwards towards Makarska. Lunch will be served while cruising along the Dalmatian Coast. Afternoon activities will include a swim at one of the secluded bays en route to Makarska, or for adrenaline lovers, there’s an optional zipline ride over the Cetina River Canyon. Dinner at your own leisure tonight Makarska, known for its beaches, seafront promenade and nightlife. The main square, Kačić Square, is home to the Church of St. Mark and other monuments including a Baroque mansion, bronze statues and an impressive 18th-century Venetian drinking fountain. Dinner at your own leisure. Overnight in Makarska Port.
An early morning departure today as we head towards Mljet, the eighth largest Island in Croatia, with a swim stop on the Pelješac Peninsula. Visit the island’s national park (entry fee payable locally), and in the afternoon, explore St Mary's Island at Mljet National Park, a pretty islet featuring a picturesque Benedictine monastery, or walk or hire a bike and explore the lakes. Tonight’s dinner at your own leisure and overnight in the port of Polača or Pomena.
After breakfast, we continue our journey towards Dubrovnik, the most well-known town in Croatia. Irish writer George Bernard Shaw called Dubrovnik “heaven on earth,” an apt description by simply taking a look outside. Sit back and take in the incredible views of this magical stretch of the coast. Upon arrival, join a guided city tour, followed by an optional cable car ride up to the Srđ mountain, part of the Dinaric Alps. At 412 metres high, you can expect spectacular views of the old town. Don’t miss Stradun – both a street and a square in the Old Town and walk at least part of the 1.940 metre long city walls which have protected Dubrovnik during earthquakes and attacks. Dinner at your leisure. Overnight in the port.
Late morning departure towards the island of Šipan or the small town of Trstenik on the Pelješac Peninsula. Today there will be gorgeous swimming spots for an afternoon dip and the possibility of visiting a local winery. In the evening enjoy the special Captain’s dinner on board (included on Premium Superior and Premium). Overnight in the port.
After breakfast, depart towards the island of Korčula, one of the famous islands in the Dubrovnik region. It’s best-known as the birthplace of the famous explorer Marco Polo. Lunch on board in a bay near the Korčula town. The encircling town walls and bastions date back to the 13th century and there are some lovely churches and museums. Join the optional sightseeing of the Korčula town (included on Premium Superior), or optional wine and local appetiser tasting at a local winery before dining in one of the numerous seafront restaurants or konobas (family-run restaurant). Overnight in the port of Korčula.
Early departure towards the Paklinski Islands near Hvar (the longest island in the Adriatic) for lunch and a swim stop. In the afternoon, join a sightseeing excursion of Hvar. Look out for The Renaissance cathedral, founded in 1612 with its original tower still intact, and the oldest community theatre in Europe. Hvar is known as a jet-set island, offering entertainment, excellent restaurants, bars and cafés. Don’t forget to buy some lavender from local stalls, an island specialty. Overnight in Hvar.
After breakfast we’re heading to the island of Brač. The most famous beach in Dalmatia is Zlatni Rat (Golden Horn) near Bol, which is famous for its ever-changing shape, a shingle bar that moves with the wind. Bol is a typical fishermen village that has kept its charm, despite becoming a popular spot. After lunch we’ll continue on to Split where you can enjoy an optional river rafting excursion on the Cetina river. The approach to the Split Riviera is breathtaking and offers the best views from onboard. Upon arrival, join the optional guided tour of Split, a monumental city which together with the famous Roman Diocletian’s Palace, is under UNESCO protection. Dinner this evening is at your leisure, Split is full of bistros and restaurants serving local specialities.
Enjoy an early breakfast this morning before disembarking in Split.

Itinerary Changes
Please note that as part of our commitment to constantly improving our passenger experience, there may be itinerary changes between the time of booking and when you travel. These changes are always made with your experience in mind and will be clearly communicated in advance if they affect your booking.
Trusted Travel Partner Tour
Your chosen tour will be operated by one of our trusted travel partners. These are meticulously crafted tours designed by established travel partners we know and trust. These tours offer a unique and exciting way to explore the world, packed with incredible sights and experiences.
Visas & Entry Requirements
Many countries require a visa and obtaining the correct visa for your tour and any countries you may transit through is your responsibility. We recommend you check your visa requirements as soon as you have booked your tour. This will ensure you have time to prepare your documents and for your visa application to be processed. You can check the visa entry requirements for your nationality via our page here:
https://inspiringvacations-8357211.hs-sites.com/visa-information
You’ll need a valid passport to travel internationally and most countries require your passport to have a minimum of 6 months validity, so remember to check the expiry date.
We need your passport information to get everything ready for your tour so the information on your booking must match your passport exactly. Please take care to provide the correct details. We recommend carrying a copy of the photo page of your passport while travelling and leaving a copy at home with family or friends.
Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is strongly recommended on all our tours. We require that at a minimum you are covered for medical expenses including emergency repatriation. It is also important to consider forced pre-tour cancellations and how your chosen insurance policy may cover such circumstances, so please keep this in mind when choosing your provider.
We strongly recommend all travellers have a policy that also covers personal liability, cancellation, curtailment and loss of luggage or personal effects. For international tours, you will be asked by your tour leader for your travel insurance details if they were not already added to your Traveller Hub account pre-departure.
If you have credit card insurance your Inspiring Vacations tour leader or local guide may require details of the participating insurer/underwriter, the level of coverage, policy number, and emergency contact number rather than the bank's name and your credit card details. Please contact your bank for these details before arriving in-country.
Before you depart, you will be asked to submit your Travel Insurance details through the booking holder's Traveller Hub account through the Inspiring Vacations website. This is to ensure that we have this information readily available should we ever need it.
Health & Wellness
All travellers need to be in good physical health to participate fully on this tour. Our group tours are designed to immerse you in incredible sights and activities, often involving walking tours and self-exploration. To ensure you can fully embrace every moment, we recommend a moderate level of fitness for all of our tours.
When selecting your tour please make sure you have read through the itinerary carefully and assess your ability to manage and enjoy our style of travel. Please note that in the assessment of our Inspiring Vacations Tour Leader or local representative a traveller is unable to complete the itinerary without undue risk to themselves and/or the rest of the group, we reserve the right to exclude them from all or part of a tour without refund.
You should consult your doctor for up-to-date medical travel information or for any necessary vaccinations before departure. We recommend that you carry a first aid kit as well as any personal medical requirements in their original packaging as they may not easily be obtained while travelling. If you are carrying medication, ensure you check your government's foreign travel advice for any local restrictions or requirements. For the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others, if you are unwell before travelling, please stay at home and contact us to make alternative arrangements and we would be more than happy to assist you.
Important Information for Customers with Mobility Limitations
We want to ensure everyone has a fantastic and inclusive experience on our tours. If you require the use of a mobility aid, such as a cane, walker, or wheelchair, please disclose this information at the time of booking.
To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for the entire group, our tours are designed with a specific itinerary in mind. This may involve moderate walking, uneven terrain, or stairs. While some itinerary adjustments may not be possible, we'll do our best to find alternative solutions within the planned activities whenever possible.
Open communication helps us ensure your tour is a perfect fit and it allows your local guide or tour leader to assist you where possible.
Information for CPAP Users
If you use a CPAP machine, please let us know at the time of booking. Some portions of our itinerary, like overnight cruises or camping tours, may have limited access to power outlets. In such cases, we recommend travelling with portable battery packs.
Certain activities, like overnight journeys on board smaller vessels, may not be suitable for CPAP use due to space limitations or noise concerns. We can discuss these potential limitations upfront and help you make informed decisions about your tour.
Please ensure that you check the voltage used throughout the countries you are travelling to and if it will be compatible with your machines. For example, Japan runs on 100 volts vs Australia at 220-240 volts, meaning a voltage converter might be required.
Documentation
Tour documentation is typically emailed to the lead passenger or your travel agent between 14-30 days before your scheduled departure. This will include your final hotel list.
Child Policy
Children must be 5 years old or above and share a room with parents at all times. Children are charged the same price as adults.
Official Travel Advice
To ensure a smooth and enjoyable journey, we recommend referring to the official travel advisory website of your home country for the latest updates on your chosen destination. These websites provide valuable information on:
Here are some helpful links to get you started:
In the unlikely event of a situation that could potentially disrupt your tour, we want to assure you of the following:
By staying informed and working together, we can ensure a fantastic travel experience for you. We will post our own travel updates to our website here.
Starting Point
Your starting hotel may differ from the original itinerary. Please refer to your final documentation which will be provided approximately 14-30 days before departure for your confirmed hotel list. If you need to book pre-tour accommodation independently, we suggest you do this only once you have received your final hotel list for your tour. If you would like to book something sooner, we recommend that you book using a flexible rate that can be cancelled through your chosen third-party provider without penalty.
Travellers will arrive at various times throughout the day depending on flights booked. If arriving before standard check-in time, which is generally 3pm, you are welcome to leave your luggage at hotel reception and explore your surroundings until check-in becomes available as there are no scheduled activities on day 1 of the itinerary. The hotel may grant early check-in, however this is strictly subject to availability and at the hotel’s discretion.
Note: if you need to apply for a tourist visa before departure, we recommend using the details of the suggested hotel on the tour itinerary if you wish to fulfil this before the release of your final tour documentation. Please refer to our visa section for more information on whether or not a visa is required for your destination.
Arrival Details
Airport transfers are included as part of your package, so long as you are arriving as per the purchased itinerary. If you have purchased an extension, either pre or post-tour, the applicable transfer service will be forfeited from your package and you will need to make your arrangements to the starting hotel.
Where the service remains included, on arrival look out for a representative holding an “Inspiring Vacations” sign after you have collected your baggage and exited customs. If you cannot find them, try to avoid wandering around and instead stay in one place and call the emergency contact number on your documentation.
Where the service has been forfeited due to an early arrival and extended stay, we do offer airport transfers at an additional cost which can be booked via your Traveller Hub. We recommend you wait until you receive your final documentation to book transfers as your start and end hotels will only be confirmed at this point. Please note that if you are choosing to book an independent airport transfer service, your Inspiring Vacations Tour Leader cannot be held responsible for any unforeseen circumstances that may arise, nor can they resolve any concerns that you may have with your transfer service.
To make your way to your hotel from the airport, there are various connections by train or limousine bus. The airport information desks can provide helpful advice, too. Most destinations offer ride-share services, such as Uber or Didi.
If you're having any problems finding the hotel, please ring the hotel directly or you can phone our customer support team for on-tour assistance.
Welcome Meeting Instructions
You are welcome to arrive at any time on Day 1 of your tour and the day is at your leisure. Upon checking in at the hotel, you will receive a letter containing meeting instructions for the following morning. If you do not automatically receive these details, please ask for them. Generally, you must meet at the lobby the following morning (on the day that sightseeing commences) as early as 0815 am local time. Please ensure that you are on time.
In Case of Emergency
Although we strive to deliver exceptional holiday experiences, unforeseen circumstances can occasionally arise during travel. If any issues arise during your tour, it's essential to promptly communicate them to your tour leader or local representative. This ensures they can take immediate action to address the problem and mitigate any negative impact on the remainder of your journey.
We understand that there may be instances where your tour leader or local representative is unable to resolve a situation to your satisfaction. In such cases, we encourage you to request that the tour leader or local representative escalate the matter to their direct manager for further assistance.
When your final tour documentation is released, this will include an emergency contact for our local travel partner while you are on tour. If this is not included in your documentation, you will receive this on arrival during your welcome meeting.

Exclusions
Travelling in a group
Travelling in a group means you will experience both the pleasures and perhaps at times, some of the frustrations of travelling with people you don’t know. The good news is you all have at least one thing in common: a love of travel and exploration. Your fellow travellers will probably come from different parts of the world, and fall into different age groups. We ask you to be understanding of the various needs and preferences of your group—patience with your fellow travellers is sometimes required for the overall benefit of the group.
We kindly ask that when you are requested to be at a place at a certain time that you respect this request from your tour leader or local guide. Due to privacy reasons, we are unable to provide you with contact details and any personal information about your fellow travellers booked on your trip before departure.
Community Guidelines
Inspiring Vacations does not tolerate any kind of violence, harassment (whether physical, verbal or sexual), or disrespect toward fellow travellers, our teams (Inspiring Vacations Tour Leaders and local expert guides) or local communities.
Any behaviour that prevents your Inspiring Vacations Tour Leader from continuing the itinerary as planned, breaks local laws or opposes any of these guidelines, may result in Inspiring Vacations removing you from the tour.
If something concerns you during your travels, please speak to your Inspiring Vacations Tour Leader immediately. Alternatively, when you are on-tour and require immediate support you can contact our Customer Support team and select the “On-Tour” option when listening to the options.
Connect with fellow travellers on Facebook
During your booking journey, you might have received an email inviting you to join a special Facebook group. This vibrant online community is exclusively for Inspiring Vacations travellers wanting to connect, share, and inspire one another. Joining this group unlocks a wealth of information and connections. Swap travel tips, chat with other members who have been where you’re going, and even meet others interested in travelling together for your next adventure.
We also regularly host insightful webinars featuring travel experts who share their tips and tricks for navigating your destination and maximising your itinerary. Don't miss out on this amazing opportunity to connect, learn, and get even more excited about your upcoming tour!
Inspiring Vacations Tour Leader vs. Local Guide
While both tour leaders and local guides enrich your travel experience, their roles differ. Tour leaders, who often accompany you for the entire tour, handle logistics, ensure smooth sailing of the itinerary, and act as your point of contact for any concerns. They might provide general information about destinations, but in-depth historical or cultural knowledge often comes from local guides. Local guides, frequently native to the area, lead tours at specific sites or attractions, offering a deeper understanding of the local history, art, or way of life.
Coach Transportation
The size of your coach will comfortably accommodate your group. There's usually room for some extra seats, ensuring a relaxing journey. Your luggage will be safely stored either underneath the coach or in a dedicated trailer.
While the exact coach style may vary depending on the departure, all our coaches offer comfortable seating. Keep in mind that Wi-Fi and charging outlets might not always be available. To stay connected and avoid dead batteries, we recommend fully charging your devices beforehand or bringing a portable charger.
For longer journeys, we'll make sure to include ample restroom breaks along the way, so you can freshen up and recharge at your convenience, as facilities are not on-board the coach.
Itinerary Changes
Sometimes, unexpected things can happen, like unpredictable weather or higher-than-usual crowds at attractions. In these situations, your tour leader might need to adjust the itinerary slightly to improve your overall experience.
This flexibility ensures you get the most out of your tour! Your tour leader will always keep you informed of any changes and explain the reasoning behind them. Remember, when travelling with a group, sometimes going with the flow can lead to even more amazing experiences.
Staying Connected
If you want to stay connected and access reliable internet while on tour, there are a few options available. It is possible to purchase a virtual sim and we recommend contacting your mobile phone provider for assistance. You can add a roaming data plan to your existing phone contract is another option, albeit an expensive one. You will need to arrange this before departure.
We also recommend downloading WhatsApp and using this to communicate with other group members while on tour, and of course, after the tour if you’d like to stay in touch. Our tour leaders may also use this as a means of communicating essential tour information with you, as well as if you choose to add-on transfers to your booking, as your driver may use this to confirm arrangements with you.
Getting Around
This tour explores Croatia and parts of Montenegro using a combination of private coach travel and a 7-night small-ship coastal cruise. On land, you’ll travel in a comfortable, air-conditioned coach for longer journeys between cities and major sights. Where applicable, there will be comfort stops along the way to stretch your legs, use bathroom facilities, and purchase refreshments. Lunch stops are typically made at rest areas or local restaurants that can accommodate our group.
During the cruise portion of the trip, you’ll sail aboard a Premium Superior small ship, which docks in a variety of ports along the Dalmatian Coast. These vessels typically moor side-by-side in port, so guests may be required to walk across other boats to reach the dock. You should be comfortable navigating stairs, uneven surfaces, and gangways with minimal assistance.
Please note that travellers are responsible for handling their own luggage throughout the trip, including embarking and disembarking the ship. We recommend packing light and ensuring your luggage is easy to carry over short distances, especially in older towns with limited vehicle access and cobblestone streets.
Hotel Ratings
Star ratings can differ between countries, reflecting diverse standards and amenities. To give you the most accurate picture possible, we don't just rely on a single source for hotel ratings. We go beyond by researching various trusted travel websites like Tripadvisor and Booking.com. This allows us to analyse a wider range of genuine customer reviews and experiences, giving you a well-rounded understanding of the hotel's typical star rating.
This means you can book with confidence, knowing the hotel has a strong track record of satisfied guests.
Accommodation Details
Throughout this journey, you’ll stay in a selection of 4-star hotels and spend seven nights aboard a Premium Superior small ship. On land, our hotel accommodations have been carefully chosen for comfort, quality, and location—typically positioned to offer easy access to key sights while ensuring a restful stay.
During the cruise, you'll enjoy a more intimate travel experience aboard a modern small ship, accommodating 32–40 passengers. Cabins are compact but well-equipped, featuring air conditioning, private ensuite bathrooms, and daily servicing. While facilities may be more limited than those of a hotel, the relaxed onboard atmosphere, attentive service, and ever-changing coastal views make for a memorable part of your journey.
Please note that European hotel star ratings can differ from other international standards, and small-ship cruising offers a more casual and personalised style of travel.
Luggage Requirements
Packing Essentials
To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience, we recommend keeping your main luggage to approximately 20kg, as you’ll be responsible for handling your own bags at times—particularly when embarking/disembarking the cruise vessel or navigating uneven streets.

Climate
Travelling through Croatia offers a varied climate experience depending on the region and season. Along the Adriatic coast, including popular destinations like Split and Dubrovnik, summers (June to August) are typically hot and dry, with temperatures often reaching the high 20s to low 30s°C (mid-80s to low 90s°F), ideal for seaside activities. Winters (December to February) are mild and wetter along the coast.
Inland areas, such as Zagreb and the mountainous regions, experience a more continental climate with colder winters that can bring snow, especially in higher elevations. Spring and autumn are pleasant seasons across the country, offering mild temperatures and fewer crowds, perfect for sightseeing and outdoor activities.
Currency and ATMs
In Croatia, the official currency is the Euro (EUR). ATMs are widely available in cities, coastal towns, and tourist areas, and most accept major international debit and credit cards. Card payments are commonly accepted in hotels, restaurants, and shops, but it's advisable to carry some cash for small purchases, market stalls, or in places where card facilities may be limited.
In Montenegro, the Euro is also used, despite the country not being part of the EU. ATMs and card facilities are generally available in larger towns and tourist destinations, but as with Croatia, carrying a small amount of cash is recommended—especially when visiting smaller villages or local eateries.
Before travelling, notify your bank of your trip to avoid any potential issues with card transactions. It’s also helpful to carry smaller denominations for easier payments, particularly in markets, public transport, or when tipping.
Food and Allergies
Travelling through Croatia and the Adriatic Coast offers a delicious introduction to regional cuisine. Croatian food reflects a blend of Mediterranean and Central European influences—think fresh seafood, grilled meats, truffle-infused dishes, hearty stews, and locally grown produce. Coastal regions feature specialities like black risotto (crni rižot), octopus salad, and pasticada (braised beef), while island towns often serve daily catches paired with local olive oil and wine. Montenegro also offers a rich food culture, known for dishes like cevapi (grilled sausages), Njeguši prosciutto, and freshwater fish from Lake Skadar.
While travelling with Inspiring Vacations, you’ll enjoy a mix of iconic sightseeing and the freedom to explore local culinary offerings. Many meals will be included—especially aboard the ship—but some will be at your leisure, allowing you to choose where, what, and with whom you’d like to eat. This flexibility also provides an opportunity to try regional specialities and dine like a local.
If you have dietary requirements or food allergies, please notify our Customer Support Team prior to departure. Your onboard tour manager or local guide can offer restaurant recommendations and help communicate dietary needs where possible. However, it remains your responsibility to ensure that you do not consume any problematic ingredients.
Local Customs
Croatia and Montenegro are warm and welcoming countries with a relaxed Mediterranean lifestyle and strong cultural traditions. Greetings are typically friendly—a simple handshake or nod is common, especially when meeting someone for the first time. In smaller towns and villages, locals may be more reserved at first but are often happy to engage once approached politely.
Meal times tend to follow a European schedule, with lunch between 12 PM and 2 PM and dinner typically served from 7 PM onward. Dining is a leisurely affair, especially in coastal areas, where fresh seafood and local wines are savoured slowly. Tipping is appreciated but not mandatory—rounding up the bill or leaving 5–10% in restaurants is customary for good service.
When visiting churches, monasteries, or historic sites, dress modestly and behave respectfully, as these places often hold religious or cultural significance. Swimwear is appropriate at the beach or on the cruise deck, but it’s considered impolite to walk through town or visit shops in swimwear or shirtless.
Understanding and respecting these local customs will help you connect more deeply with the region and its people, enriching your overall travel experience.
Dress Code
Casual attire is generally appropriate throughout Croatia and Montenegro, especially in coastal towns and during daytime excursions. Lightweight, breathable clothing is recommended for warm weather, while a smart-casual outfit is advisable for evenings, particularly when dining at upscale restaurants or attending cultural events.
Modest dress is appreciated when visiting religious sites such as churches and monasteries—covering shoulders and knees is recommended out of respect. Swimwear is suitable at beaches and on the ship, but it’s considered inappropriate to wear it in town or public places away from the water.
Comfortable footwear is essential for exploring historic towns with cobblestone streets and uneven surfaces. Bringing a light jacket or sweater for cooler evenings or air-conditioned venues will also enhance your comfort.
Observing these dress customs will help you show respect for local culture and enjoy your experience to the fullest.
Tipping
Tipping in Croatia and Montenegro is generally appreciated but not mandatory. It’s a way to acknowledge good service and is often welcomed in restaurants, cafes, and by guides and drivers.
Tipping is discretionary and should reflect your satisfaction with the service provided. Carrying small denominations of euros will make tipping easier throughout your trip.
Safety and Security
Most national governments provide regularly updated foreign travel advice on safety issues involved with international travel. We recommend that you check your own government's advice for the most up-to-date travel information before departure and ensure that your travel insurance covers you for all destinations and activities on your trip.
Your Inspiring Vacations Tour Leader or local representative will accompany you on all included activities listed on the itinerary, however, you'll have some free time to explore on your own. While your Inspiring Vacations tour leader or local guide will assist you as best they can with your requests and the options available outside your itinerary, please note Inspiring Vacations makes no representations about the safety of the activity or the standard of the operators running the activity. Please use your judgement when selecting an activity in your free time.
Please also note that your Inspiring Vacations tour leader or local guide has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the itinerary if it's deemed necessary due to safety concerns.
Croatia and Montenegro are generally safe destinations for travellers, with low rates of serious crime. However, it’s wise to exercise common-sense precautions, especially in busy tourist areas. Be mindful of your belongings to avoid petty theft such as pickpocketing, particularly in crowded markets, public transport, and popular sightseeing spots.
Avoid displaying valuables openly and stay aware of your surroundings at all times. Use reputable taxi services and avoid walking alone late at night in unfamiliar or poorly lit areas.
Respect local customs and remain vigilant, especially when exploring smaller towns or less-frequented areas. Following these simple guidelines will help ensure a safe and enjoyable journey.
Apps to Download
Before your trip, consider downloading a few helpful apps to enhance your travel experience. Google Translate is invaluable for overcoming language barriers—the camera (lens) feature is especially handy for reading menus, signs, and product labels. Google Maps with offline maps downloaded will help you navigate towns and cities without relying on Wi-Fi.
For local transport, apps like Moovit or Promet Split can assist with public buses in Croatian cities. For taxi services, popular apps include Uber (available in major cities) and local providers—check availability depending on your itinerary stops.
We also recommend downloading WhatsApp to stay connected with your fellow travellers and tour leaders throughout your journey. Having these apps ready will help you get around smoothly and make the most of your time on tour.
Post-Tour Feedback
Once your booking is confirmed, you will receive a link to a post-purchase survey, which is your opportunity to share your feedback with us on your booking experience and interactions with our Sales and Customer Success teams. This feedback is invaluable to ensure that we are servicing our customers to the best of our ability.
Furthermore, towards the end of your travels and while you are in your destination, you will receive an email from us with a link to an in-depth trip survey. Your tour leader or local guide may also provide you with a QR code that you can scan using your device to access our survey straight away. It is very important to us that we hear from our customers to ensure that we continue to meet and exceed customers' expectations, so this will be your opportunity to let us know how your trip has been, what has worked well and potentially what could be improved.
Finishing Point
Your finishing hotel may differ from the original itinerary. Please refer to your final documentation which will be provided approximately 14-30 days before departure for your confirmed hotel list. If you need to book additional post-tour accommodation, please do so once you have the final hotel list. We recommend booking a flexible rate that can be changed or cancelled without penalty should there be any unforeseen changes to your booking.
Travellers will depart at various times throughout the day depending on flights booked. Check-out time is generally from 10am-12pm. You are welcome to leave your luggage at the hotel reception and spend your final moments of free time exploring the area or please speak with hotel staff if you would like to extend your check-out time. This service is subject to availability and will likely come at an additional cost payable directly.
Departure Details
Airport transfers are included as part of your package, so long as you are departing as per the purchased itinerary. If you have purchased an extension, either pre or post-tour, the applicable transfer service will be forfeited from your package and you will need to make your arrangements to the starting hotel.
Where the service remains included, your tour leader will confirm the pick-up time from your hotel to the airport and this will depend on the flight that you have booked. Generally, you will be required to be at the airport approximately 3 hours before your scheduled departure.
Where the service has been forfeited due to an extended stay, we do offer airport transfers at an additional cost which can be booked via your Traveller Hub.
If you're having any problems, you can speak to hotel reception before your departure.
This is a land only package.
This package does not include international airfares. If you would like to add airfares to your booking our flight portal will be available via your Traveller Hub.
