Some long travel days may be required to complete this itinerary and you will typically spend two nights at each destination, with some one night stays required. This trip includes a mix of sightseeing and free time to explore at your own pace. You will be required to move about unassisted, including getting on and off vehicles, walking up and down stairs and some activities will be conducted on uneven or steep terrain. You will be required to handle your own luggage.

Visit the Mossman Gorge Gateway Centre for morning tea before boarding your shuttle for the transfer into Mossman Gorge. Your Driver Guide will take you for a guided walk, sharing their knowledge of this enchanting rainforest environment. Learn about the fascinating secrets of one of the world’s oldest tropical rainforests. Reach an understanding of this wildlife environment on a one-hour cruise; habitat of birds, tree snakes, unique plants and the estuarine crocodile.
With special access at a private rainforest property, enjoy a short walk along a delightful rainforest creek before a delicious tropical lunch. Enjoy an afternoon refreshment at the Daintree Ice Cream Company. After winding through the rainforest of the Alexandra Range, enjoy this spectacular lookout over the Daintree River estuary, Snapper Island and beyond to the Coral Sea.
After a 2-hour motorised sail on board the 32-metre sailing Catamaran, Ocean Spirit, you will arrive at Michaelmas Cay where there is so much to see and do. Enjoy snorkelling in the cay’s protected shallow waters, try an introductory scuba dive in the fringing reefs, cruise in the semi-sub for a diver’s view of the reef, watch the fish feeding presentation, observe the bird life or just chill out on Ocean Spirit’s spacious decks or on the beach. A tropical lunch served on the deck. Throughout the day, the ‘beach buggy shuttle’ will transfer you between Ocean Spirit and the beach.
Today, relax and unwind or discover any of several Cairns’ hidden gems.
This morning is free for you to relax. This afternoon you will be collected from your accommodation to take the scenic drive to Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures. After arrival, there is then plenty of free time to explore the rest of the park, including the unique eco experience of the Wetlands cruise through the ecologically significant Melaleuca wetlands, the domain of the saltwater crocodile.
Explore the rest of the park with its abundance of wildlife including water birds, turtles, wallabies, and cassowaries. See the notorious head shake and death roll of a huge crocodile at the Crocodile Attack Show, also the opportunity to hold a crocodile for a photo (own expense). Discover the world’s most venomous snakes at the Snake Show before you return to Cairns.
On arrival at Freshwater Station, board the Kuranda Scenic Railway for a historical rail journey enjoying breathtaking views across the cane fields of Cairns and through the tropical rainforest. Wind through hand-hewn tunnels, across bridges and curves, all the time appreciating this amazing engineering feat. In Kuranda, it’s time to explore this fascinating village.
The Heritage Markets are full of colourful and interesting arts and crafts. You might also like to visit Birdworld Kuranda, the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary or Kuranda Koala Gardens (own expense). Later, board the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway for your 7.5km journey over and through World Heritage protected rainforest to Smithfield.
Your 90-minute iconic rainforest experience showcases ancient rainforest and spectacular views, with time at both Red Peak and Barron Falls Stations for education and interpretation.
Your Short Break concludes this morning after breakfast. (Airport transfer is an additional cost.)
