A leisurely morning to explore Tromsø before MS Trollfjord departs. Optional independent activities include a visit to Polaria (the Arctic aquarium and educational centre), a walk across the Tromsø bridge for panoramic mountain and harbour views, or a final stroll through the Arctic Cathedral or the Polar Museum. This is also a good moment to book any winter excursions onboard with the Expedition Team for upcoming ports.
By afternoon, the ship casts off and the southbound voyage begins as Tromsø slowly fades behind and the open Norwegian coast opens up ahead.
Special Information
Ship departs Tromsø in the afternoon. Optional shore excursions can be booked through the onboard Expedition Team.
Today the ship calls at Honningsvåg, gateway to the legendary North Cape, long regarded as the northernmost point of mainland Europe. The town itself is small and welcoming, with fishing boats coming and going from a colourful Arctic harbour set among rugged hills and icy bays.
An optional excursion takes you across the windswept plateau of Magerøya Island to the North Cape itself, standing at 300m cliffs that fall sharply into the Arctic Ocean. Back in Honningsvåg, you may wish to walk through the brightly painted wooden houses, visit the North Cape Museum to learn about life in the far north, or simply enjoy a coffee while watching the fishing fleet.
Special Information
Optional excursion to the North Cape available at extra cost (subject to weather).
Today the ship arrives in Alta, framed by forested hills, frozen rivers and Arctic sky. Known as the City of the Northern Lights, Alta has long drawn explorers, scientists and travellers fascinated by the far north. Its history reaches back much further: this was once a gathering place for early northern peoples, and UNESCO-listed prehistoric rock carvings along the riverbanks still tell stories of hunting, reindeer herding and life on the water carved into stone thousands of years ago.
Optional activities include a visit to the striking Northern Lights Cathedral (whose spiral form echoes the aurora), the Alta Museum, or an overnight at the seasonal Igloo Hotel rebuilt each year from snow and ice. Alternatively, spend the day in Alta's cafes, craft shops and along the frozen river valley.
Special Information
Optional Alta Igloo Hotel overnight available at extra cost. Other optional excursions include Northern Lights Cathedral and Alta Museum.
A second day in Alta with several optional excursions available at extra cost. Glide behind a husky team through pine forests, try snowshoeing across frozen terrain, or join a guided inland trip toward the Finnmark tundra. For a gentler pace, visit the Alta Museum or take a riverbank walk.
By evening, the ship turns south, leaving Alta's quiet harbour behind. The course now follows Norway's coast toward the fjords and islands further south.
Special Information
Optional Alta excursions include dog sledding, snowshoeing and Finnmark inland trips (at extra cost). Ship sails south in the evening.
The day begins in Stokmarknes, birthplace of Hurtigruten and home to the Hurtigruten Museum, a tribute to the generations who have lived and worked along this coast sailing the original route founded in 1893 and still followed today. From here the ship continues through the narrow Raftsundet channel, one of Norway's most dramatic stretches of water, with cliffs rising vertically from the sea, waterfalls tracing down the rock face and new vistas at every turn.
Later the ship arrives in Svolvær, the lively heart of the Lofoten Islands. Fishing boats line the quays beneath sharp mountain peaks, galleries display works inspired by Arctic light, and red and yellow waterfront cabins stand out against the dark slopes. Optional excursions reach nearby Henningsvær.
Special Information
Morning call at Stokmarknes (Hurtigruten Museum). Scenic sailing through the Raftsundet channel. Afternoon call at Svolvær.
A full day at sea following Norway's storied inner coastal route, a network of narrow channels and protected sounds that has guided mariners for more than a thousand years. The waters are sheltered from the open sea, winding between islands and headlands with small fishing villages and family farms clinging to the shore. Solitary lighthouses mark the entrances to fjords, and on clear days distant peaks may still be capped with snow.
From the deck, follow the slow rhythm of the coastline as the ship moves steadily south. Inside, the Expedition Team typically delivers short talks on the Arctic, the coast and Hurtigruten's heritage.
Special Information
Full sailing day. Expedition Team talks scheduled throughout.
Today the ship calls at Ålesund. Rebuilt after a devastating fire in 1904, Ålesund emerged as Norway's Art Nouveau masterpiece, a town of graceful spires, pastel facades and curved towers that catch the light of the surrounding sea. The natural setting is equally striking: Ålesund stretches across a series of islands with the jagged Sunnmøre Alps rising in the distance.
Spend the day exploring the town's canals and narrow streets lined with cafes and boutiques, or visit the Jugendstilsenteret Museum to learn how Ålesund's architecture was born from resilience and renewal. For a wider view, climb the 418 steps to the top of Mount Aksla for a panorama of the town, fjords and mountains beyond.
Special Information
Optional independent activities: Jugendstilsenteret Museum, Mount Aksla 418-step climb.
Encircled by seven mountains and facing the open sea, Bergen is Norway's maritime heart. Once a key Hanseatic trading port, the city still carries echoes of its past in the colourful wooden facades of Bryggen Wharf, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walking through its narrow passages, you can sense the bustle of the merchants and sailors who filled these docks with stories from across the world.
Down by the harbour, the fish market offers a taste of local life with stalls of freshly caught seafood and regional specialties. For a wider view, take the funicular up Mount Fløyen, where the city and its islands open up below in a sweep of water and rooftops. Bergen is your final stop in Norway before the ship heads to Denmark.
Special Information
Final Norwegian port. Optional independent activities: Bryggen Wharf walk, fish market, Mount Fløyen funicular.
With Norway's rugged coast astern, the open waters of the North Sea stretch ahead toward Denmark. A day for slowing down, with time to watch the horizon, feel the steady movement of the ship and reflect on the fjords, mountains and coastal towns that have shaped the journey so far. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast or join a final talk with the Expedition Team. From the deck, seabirds glide on the wind as the ship passes through the Skagerrak and Kattegat straits, waters that have long linked Norway, Sweden and Denmark through trade and travel.
Special Information
Full sailing day crossing the North Sea, Skagerrak and Kattegat straits.
In the early morning light, the spires of Copenhagen rise from the sea as MS Trollfjord approaches the final port of the voyage. After disembarkation, make your own way to The Square hotel in central Copenhagen for your two-night post-cruise stay.
The rest of the day is at leisure to begin exploring Copenhagen, with Nyhavn, the Strøget pedestrian street and the Tivoli Gardens all within easy walking distance.
Special Information
Copenhagen disembarkation transfer is not included. The hotel is approximately a 3-4 km transfer from the cruise terminal; recommend taxi or pre-booked transfer via our portal.
After breakfast, meet your local English-speaking guide for a 3-hour city tour of the Danish capital. Admire the Little Mermaid, Copenhagen's most iconic landmark made famous by Hans Christian Andersen, then continue to the colourful canal-area of Nyhavn with its cafes and restaurants. See the splendid Amalienborg Palace, the Danish Royal Family's winter residence, with a brief stop at Christiansborg Palace, the seat of the Danish Parliament.
The rest of the day is at leisure to continue exploring Copenhagen at your own pace. The Tivoli Gardens, the Round Tower and the National Museum are all popular options.
Special Information
3-hour English-speaking local guide and coach included. No entrances are included on the city tour.
After breakfast, make the short walk (approximately 600m) to Copenhagen Central Station for your 2nd class rail journey to Stockholm via Malmö, Sweden's third-largest city. On arrival at Stockholm Central Station, make the short walk (approximately 500m) to the Scandic Grand Central hotel and check in. The remainder of the day is at leisure to begin exploring the Venice of the North.
Special Information
Your travel time today will be approximately 6 hours including the 2nd class Copenhagen-Stockholm train via Malmö. Station transfers at both ends are not included.
After breakfast, meet your local English-speaking guide for a 4-hour city tour of Stockholm, Sweden's capital and largest city. Sometimes referred to as the Venice of the North, the city has beautiful waterways, parks and architecture. The coach tour takes in the impressive buildings of the National Museum, the Royal Theatre, the Grand Hotel and the Royal Palace, before a walking exploration of Stockholm's picturesque historical city centre, known as Gamla Stan. You will also see Stockholm City Hall and enter the Blue and Golden Halls, the venue of the Nobel Peace Prize banquet held each year.
The rest of the day is at leisure to enjoy Stockholm at your own pace. The Vasa Museum on Djurgården (the world's only preserved 17th-century warship), the ABBA Museum and the Skansen open-air museum are all popular options.
Special Information
4-hour English-speaking local guide and coach included. Stockholm City Hall public entrance included.
After breakfast, the morning is at leisure until it is time to make your own way to Stockholm Arlanda Airport for your return flight home.

You’ll need a valid passport to travel internationally and most countries require your passport to have a minimum of 6 months validity, so remember to check the expiry date.
We need your passport information to get everything ready for your tour so the information on your booking must match your passport exactly. Please take care to provide the correct details. We recommend carrying a copy of the photo page of your passport while travelling and leaving a copy at home with family or friends.
Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is strongly recommended on all our tours. We require that at a minimum you are covered for medical expenses including emergency repatriation. It is also important to consider forced pre-tour cancellations and how your chosen insurance policy may cover such circumstances, so please keep this in mind when choosing your provider.
We strongly recommend all travellers have a policy that also covers personal liability, cancellation, curtailment and loss of luggage or personal effects. For international tours, you will be asked by your tour leader for your travel insurance details if they were not already added to your Traveller Hub account pre-departure.
If you have credit card insurance your Inspiring Vacations tour leader or local guide may require details of the participating insurer/underwriter, the level of coverage, policy number, and emergency contact number rather than the bank's name and your credit card details. Please contact your bank for these details before arriving in-country.
Before you depart, you will be asked to submit your Travel Insurance details through the booking holder's Traveller Hub account through the Inspiring Vacations website. This is to ensure that we have this information readily available should we ever need it.

About Your Inspiring Bonus Value
Your package has been designed to deliver exceptional value by bundling everything you need into one all-in fare — including flights, accommodation, your cruise, and a range of additional inclusions provided by the cruise line.
The "Inspiring Bonus Value" figure shown represents the indicative value of these inclusions if you were to purchase them separately, either onboard or directly from the supplier; it is not a discount, refund, cash equivalent, or amount deducted from your fare, and the value figure is not redeemable for cash or transferable.
This figure is calculated by reference to the cruise line's own published value for inclusions provided (where applicable), the standard onboard rate of any shore excursion credits applied to eligible ports of call, and the recommended retail rate of any bundled hotel nights, flights, tours, transfers, complimentary upgrades or other extras included in your package at the time of pricing; supplier-supplied values and rates used in this calculation are documented and available on request, and USD amounts are converted to AUD at an indicative rate that may vary.
All figures shown are approximate and indicative only, specific inclusions vary by stateroom category, package and supplier, and are subject to availability and the cruise line's terms and conditions, and inclusions may be substituted with items of equivalent or higher value where required. If the cruise line modifies or withdraws an inclusion after your booking is confirmed, Inspiring Vacations will pass on the modified inclusion as advised by the supplier; the Inspiring Bonus Value is calculated at the time of pricing and is not a guarantee of specific inclusions through to the date of travel, and where a package is purchased at a promotional price, the Inspiring Bonus Value figure relates to the inclusions of the package, not any discount applied.
