This morning after breakfast, drive north to the Cultural Triangle. Enroute, we stop at the UNESCO Heritage Listed Site, Dambulla Cave Temple. Built in the first century BC, it has been a sacred pilgrimage site for 22 centuries. With its five sanctuaries, 2000 m2 of walls and ceilings, and more than 150 painted Buddha images, it is the largest and best-preserved cave-temple complex in Sri Lanka.

After your visit, you’ll be transferred to your hotel, Heritance Kandalama, your home for the next three nights. This luxury 5-star retreat is  built into the hillside surrounded by greenery offering a sense of peace and tranquility. Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at the hotel before traveling approximately an hour to visit the UNESCO site of Anuradhapura. 

Anuradhapura is one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka and is known for its well-preserved ruins. Visit the sacred Bo Tree, a spiritual reminder of the beginnings of Buddhism in Sri Lanka and the inspiration for Anuradhapura’s great buildings. The ruins themselves are spread over quite a large area, some in woodland settings and others appearing park-like with columns and ponds dotted about.

After our visit, we’ll travel back to our hotel where the afternoon is at leisure before enjoying another dinner at the hotel this evening.

After breakfast, proceed to Sigiriya Rock Fortress and climb the monolith, one of the most extraordinary artistic complexes of its time (477 – 498 AD). Declared a UNESCO heritage site in 1982, this magnificent citadel allures artistic and architectural curiosity from around the globe. 

Return to the hotel late this morning with time to relax before we head out this afternoon to visit the second ancient capital of Sri Lanka. Polonnaruwa was declared as an UNESCO heritage site in 1982. On arrival, we enjoy lunch overlooking the lake in a stunning colonial villa and then proceed on a tour of this ancient site. After the demise of Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa became the middle historic capital of Sri Lanka (1017 – 1235 AD). In comparison to Anuradhapura, here your private chauffeur guide will show you well preserved remains of temples and ancient homes and describe the meaning behind the relief and carvings that can still be seen today. 

Following our tour, we’ll travel back to Dambulla in time for dinner at the hotel and an evening at leisure.

En route to Kandy we’ll stop and visit a spice garden at Matale. Here you will be led by a local botanist and learn the secrets behind the spices and their importance to Sri Lankan cooking and medicine.

Enjoy some free time at the hotel before our afternoon tour of the beautiful Temple of the Tooth Relic. Instalment Schedule:

  1. At the time of booking pay a $99.00 deposit per person.
  2. Pay a 1st installment of $1,277.00 per person within 28 days.
  3. Pay a 2nd installment of $2,553.00 per person within 90 days.
  4. You will then be invoiced for final payment 120 days prior to departure.

This package does not include international airfares. If you would like to add airfares to your booking our flight portal will be available via your Traveller Hub. The flight portal will allow you to search for all available airfares to your destination. The function works like most general flight search engines allowing you to select your preferred airline, book different cabin classes (eg. Business class) and view flight durations and transit times to your destination. 

The flight portal will be available via your Traveller Hub once the following criteria has been met:

3 – Moderate Tour: A good level of fitness and mobility is required, as this tour includes a moderate level of physical activity and is considered a medium-fast paced tour. You should be able to walk up and down stairs, get on and off the coach and able to walk reasonable distances of approximately 2 kilometres per day or more with ease. Any physical ailments you may have must be disclosed at the time of booking to determine your suitability. If you have any form of walking aids, other than a walking stick or hiking poles, then this tour is not suitable.
