This morning after breakfast we'll visit one of the most impressive sites in Casablanca – the imposing Hassan II Mosque. Opened in 1993, and second only in size to the great mosque at Mecca, the huge building is part on land and part on sea; in one area water can even be seen through a glass floor. The mosque can accommodate 25,000 worshippers and the main roof is retractable to create an open courtyard. It's one of the only religious sites open to non-Muslims.
Afterwards, we depart Casablanca for Rabat, the capital of Morocco. After a short orientation tour, we will then drive to arguably one of the most picturesque cities in the country, Chefchaouen. Set against a wide valley and nestled between two peaks in the stunning Rif Mountains, Chefchaouen may take you by surprise. It’s picture perfect, with striking blue and whitewashed houses, red-tiled roofs and artistic doorways. Its small but authentic medina has been lovingly cared for and the walled fortress of the kasbah provides a haven in the heart of the city, where you can wander the tranquil gardens and enjoy the views over the valley from the tower.
Enjoy an evening at leisure in this tranquil oasis.

You will also have time to explore the city’s Kasbah (paid locally) where you can get an insight into the famous fortifications that are throughout the country.
The remainder of the afternoon and evening will be spent at your leisure.

Enjoy breakfast, and take some time to soak up the morning atmosphere of tranquil Chefchaouen before driving out of the city to the ancient ruins of Volubilis. Once a provincial Roman capital, Volubilis was a distant outpost of the empire, and the well-preserved archaeological remains make for an impressive sight. Volubilis is the foremost Roman site in Morocco and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. Upon arrival we'll take a tour around the ruins with a local guide. Don’t forget to take your camera as the town is filled with fantastic mosaics, many of which remain intact.
After time spent exploring Volubulis and imagining the bustling city it once was, continue on to the living museum of Fes. After checking in to your hotel in the late afternoon, the remainder of the day is free for you to spend as you please.

Fes is the spiritual and cultural heart of Morocco; vibrant, noisy, fascinating and overwhelming – a true feast for the senses. It is made up of three distinct ‘cities’, or quarters, and we will stay on the edge of the huge, well-preserved medieval old city in elegant, riad-style accommodation (a riad is a large traditional Moroccan house built around a central courtyard).
This morning we'll head into the old city, known locally as Fes el-Bali, arguably the world's most fascinating and confounding old city. Medieval Fes was one of the world's great centres for education and culture, both Islamic and Jewish. Its religious institutions and libraries are legendary, its mosques of great renown. Walk through the twisting streets and alleyways, passing donkeys piled high with goods, and explore the speciality sections that divide the souk. Stalls loaded with fruits, herbs and soups line the passageways; the fragrant smell of spices floods the air; and the sound of metalsmiths hammering at copper can be heard echoing throughout the labyrinthine streets.
This afternoon is free to continue exploring this ancient city before a Moroccan dinner tonight with your group.
Inspiring Highlights
This morning after breakfast, leave the intensity of the city behind today, for the simplicity of the High Atlas Mountains. Drive south, inland, through a variety of spectacular scenery – fertile valleys, cedar and pine forests and barren, rocky landscapes – to the small town of Midelt. Midelt is a market town, originally built as a base for mining in the area. It's nestled in the high plains surrounding the Moulouya River, between the Middle and High Atlas mountain ranges, at an elevation of just over 1,500 metres. It's a perfect spot to break up our journey to the Sahara. Many of the locals are of the Berber ethnic group, and the town can offer a rich insight into their way of life. Here we stop and enjoy an Inspiring Taste lunch with a local family at their farm for an authentic meal of traditional Moroccan dishes, such as tagine (a slow-cooked, savoury stew).
After lunch we'll drive through changing scenery, from barren mountain sides to fertile valleys, on our journey to Merzouga. With a backdrop of the tangerine Erg Chebbi sand dunes, the charming Saharan village of Merzouga feels wonderfully isolated, like the modern world has left it behind.
You’ll arrive in Merzouga at the end of the day and be welcomed with a glass of mint tea before you check-in to your traditional Moroccan riad.
Inspiring Highlights
Special Information
Your travel time today will be approximately 7.5 hours.
The Erg Chebbi is one of the world's most iconic landscapes, with towering dunes up to 150 metres high. Located at the end of a sealed road, and just 20 kilometres from the Algerian border, this wild stretch of land truly feels like frontier country. Leave your large bags at the riad, ready to ride camels into the edge of the Sahara Desert, and enjoy a spectacular sunset along the way. The dunes are stunning, especially as the evening light plays across them and sets the landscape ablaze with colour.
Tonight we'll enjoy an Inspiring Stay, taking cues from the Berbers and bedding down in a desert camp, with the chance to try some fantastic local cuisine while we sit around an open-air fire. Enjoy dinner, lively music, drumming, Berber stories and dancing under the stars.
Inspiring Highlights
Special Information
In the camp you will sleep in a raised bed, and each tent have a private bathroom.
If you do not wish to ride a camel, there is the option to travel to and from the camp by 4WD (The cost is approx. 110EUR for a group of 5 people - to be organised and paid locally).
Enjoy a real Lawrence of Arabia moment this morning, with a sunrise camel ride across the desert on the return journey to the riad. From here we'll continue on to the Todra Gorge, a canyon, or wadi, that rises for more than 250 metres to form one of the most dramatic and spectacular natural sights in Morocco. We'll enjoy a short, yet exhilarating, walk through the narrow orange limestone walls.
Later we'll drive on to the beautiful Dadès Valley, where we'll spend the night. The valley is a popular spot for tourists and spans several kilometres, offering a wide variety of activities for adventurous types. Tonight's accommodation is a traditional, locally owned, Moroccan kasbah with spectacular views over the Dadès Valley.
In the evening, enjoy a Moroccan dinner with your group.

Enjoy breakfast, before taking off for a full day exploring the beautiful, largely untouched, Moroccan backcountry. Travelling on foot is the best way to get a closer look at the natural landscape and the rural way of life. We'll begin by taking a short transfer to the start of the trek. On the walk you'll pass Berber villages, meeting the incredibly friendly local people along the way. You'll enjoy lunch with a local family; listen to their stories and discover what family life is truly like in the Dadès Valley.
This evening will be spent at your leisure, to relax after a long enjoyable day.
Inspiring Highlights
Special Information
Your experience in Dades will last approximately 5.5 hours in total and includes a 14–15 km trek, which will take around 2 to 3 hours on foot. It is a moderately easy walk with manageable slopes, no steep hills, and varied terrain. This will be an incredible experience, but if you are unable to join this walk then you have the option of spending the day in the hotel and the surrounding area.
Today after breakfast we'll leave the Dadès Valley to set off on the fabled Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. A kasbah is a type of keep, or citadel, usually a part of the defensive structure of a city and often where the local leader would reside.
The first stop for us today is the majestic oasis of Skoura, home to several privately owned kasbahs. Here we'll visit Kasbah Amridil, with its extravagant decorations and mud-brick fortifications, before continuing on to Aït Benhaddou, perched on a hilltop and left almost untouched since the 11th century. Aït Benhaddou is one of Morocco's most iconic sites, its grand kasbah one of the most beautiful in Morocco and the fortified village a fine example of clay architecture. If you think you recognise the place, you probably do, as the town has a long list of film and TV credits, including Lawrence of Arabia, Game of Thrones and Gladiator.
We will then drive to the bustling hub of Marrakech. After check-in to your hotel, enjoy some free time to discover the city.
Inspiring Highlights
Special Information
Your travel time today will be approximately 6 hours.
Today will begin with a morning tour of the old medina with your local guide, who will take you through the bustling souks that are the lifeblood of the city. Explore tranquil courtyards filled with the scent of orange blossom, and the many salons and chambers that make up Bahia Palace. This splendid property was built in 1866 for a former slave who rose to power within the government. Next we'll stop by the Koutoubia Mosque; its famous minaret (a tower with a balcony from which a muezzin calls Muslims to prayer), is the prototype for others of its kind around the world, including La Giralda in Seville. From here we then walk back through the streets of the old medina to the Jamaa el-Fna, the main square of Marrakech.
The rest of the day is yours: explore further, relax back at the riad or go shopping in the souk. Perhaps you’ll visit the tropical gardens of the French painter Jacques Majorelle, or check out the ruins of the Palais Badi, long known as one of the most beautiful palaces in the world. Otherwise, head back into the medina, where every step brings a new scent or sight. Watch skilled artisans perfect their craft, practise your haggling skills or take a break from the hustle to sip on tea or share a tajine. This evening, feast with your group in one of the many great restaurants lining the square.
Inspiring Highlights
Today enjoy a cooking class at the the legendary restaurant at La Maison Arabe where you will use modern equipment found in everyday kitchens. At the end of each workshop, you will dine on the meal you have prepared. At a typical half-day workshop, one learns to prepare an appetizer and a main dish, or a main dish and dessert. The workshops are conducted by a dada (traditional Moroccan cook) or a chef.
Starts: approx: 2.45pm
Duration: approx: 3 hours
Please note the start and duration times outlined are subject to change based on factors beyond our control such as traffic and weather conditions. Your Tour Guide will confirm operation times with you whilst on-tour and can answer any further questions you may have.
After breakfast this morning we'll head for Essaouira, a city where the medina brushes up against the Atlantic Ocean, where we'll spend the next two nights.
The narrow streets of Essaouira discourages cars, meaning it's an ideal city to explore on foot. Sandstone walkways contrast with whitewashed houses, the bright blue sky and the sand of the surrounding beaches and dunes. Surely one of North Africa's most attractive destinations, you'll soon find yourself slipping into the easy-going pace of this Moroccan town with a European seaside twist. The fishing port is a serious commercial operation and there’s much fun to be had observing the daily catch and its subsequent auction. Elsewhere there are numerous shops and several fine art galleries to distract you, along with a wide variety of restaurants. Your tour leader will help guide you through the maze of options.
Special Information
Your travel time today will be approximately 3 hours.
This artists' town was once home to sizable British and Jewish populations, and its charm has seduced the likes of Orson Welles and Jimi Hendrix, who (according to local legend) spent much of his time here in the 1960s.
Enjoy a morning city tour with your guide who will then take you to the fish souk. Here you'll choose your own freshly caught fish before taking it to a restaurant packed with locals – following your guides lead, hand over your market purchase for it to be grilled. Your guide will also take you to the fruit and vegetable market, where you'll choose the salads and veggies to accompany your seafood lunch. Enjoy this delicious meal together with the rest of your group.
Take the rest of the day to explore the medina; discover the Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdallah Museum and its collection of artefacts, woodwork, carpets and stringed instruments; enjoy café life on the main square; or sit back and watch the kite surfers ride the crashing waves.
Inspiring Highlights
Enjoy a relaxing massage with Argan oil, which is highly-prized for its culinary and cosmetic uses and is only produced in Morocco.
Starts: approx: 3pm
Duration: approx: 45 minutes (plus 15 minute welcoming)
Please note the start and duration times outlined are subject to change based on factors beyond our control such as traffic and weather conditions. Your Tour Guide will confirm operation times with you whilst on-tour and can answer any further questions you may have.

This ultra-modern masterpiece unveils over 100,000 treasures, including Tutankhamun’s full collection, in dazzling galleries filled with light, glass, and history. It’s the world’s largest museum of a single civilisation.

From backstreet bazaars to minaret-topped mosques, and neighbourhood coffee houses, these are the places that make Egypt's sprawling capital what it is. It was built between 1356 and 1363 by Sultan Hassan then we will enjoy a walk in Moez street starting form Bab el Fetouh and we will end our Adventure in Khan El Khalili Bazaar. A labyrinth of narrow streets and passageways, Khan el-Khalili is one of the world’s largest bazaars and offers a truly authentic local Cairo experience.
Please note: the start and duration times outlined are subject to change based on factors beyond our control such as traffic and weather conditions. Your Tour Guide will confirm operation times with you whilst on-tour and can answer any further questions you may have.
Starts: 8:30am
End: 3:30pm
Inclusions: private transportation, private guide
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel then we'll explore the magnificent Karnak Temple, which is perhaps the most impressive of all the ancient pharaohs' monumental works. One of the world's most celebrated temple complexes, Karnak was built over some 200 years and was once known as the 'Chosen of Places'. Your guided tour of this vast temple of impressive pylons, obelisks and chapels will reveal its finest sections, such as the Avenue of Sphinxes and the Great Temple of Amun.
Then it’s time to embark on your luxury Nile cruise that will be home for the next 4 nights. You’ll cruise between Luxor and Aswan on this elegant ship, with all the comforts you would expect from a 5-star floating hotel.
Please note that since the sailing distance between Luxor and Aswan is approximately 200kms, that it is typical for all cruises operated along the Nile to be docked for majority of the time to conduct sightseeing, with the sailing to occur of an evening. The vessel will be docked either in Luxor or Aswan. Depending on the time of year and number of vessels operating at the same time, you will also find that all vessels are docked beside one another, which is beyond our control.
To ensure that our customers have appropriate expectations prior to their journey, it is important not to compare this experience to that of a European River Cruise, which tend to cover a greater distance and on larger vessels. Instead, you will experience a Deluxe stay on-board your vessel, offering a great chance to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the banks of the Nile while you sit back and relax. Your cruise schedule will be provided once on-board.
Situated on the East Bank of the Nile River, in the city of Luxor, Luxor Temple was built approximately 1400 BC. The site is over 73 sq km and exhibits obelisks, giant statues, an Avenue of Sphinx statues, the Grand colonnade and the Barque Shrine of Theban Triad. Viewing is as majestic at night as it is during the day.
Please note: the start and duration times outlined are subject to change based on factors beyond our control such as traffic and weather conditions. Your Tour Guide will confirm operation times with you whilst on-tour and can answer any further questions you may have.
Start: 4:00pm
End: 6:00pm
Inclusions: return transfers to temple, entrance into Luxor Temple
Today we'll discover some of the many wonders of ancient Thebes. Our first stop is the Colossi of Memnon – two 17-metre-high statues on Luxor's west bank. Carved from granite blocks, they represent the Pharaoh Amenhotep III and were once part of an impressive colonnade.
Continue on to the spectacular royal burial site of the Valley of the Kings. Buried under the arid hills here are the tombs of more than 60 pharaohs, many richly decorated with reliefs and paintings. Explore this sprawling and spectacular place with your guide, where the pharaohs of the New Kingdom (16th to 11th century BCE) were secretly interred for all eternity, and where archaeological discoveries are still being made. Your guide will explain the history of and legends surrounding these remarkable people, their funerary rites, and the significance of the many paintings and hieroglyphics, still well-preserved in the deepest tombs.
After paying a visit to three of the most interesting royal tombs we'll continue to the Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, a stunning colonnaded building of sharp lines that contrasts beautifully against the craggy high cliffs behind it, creating a spectacular natural amphitheatre. One of Egypt’s greatest queens, this temple was built to prove her importance among the ancestors.
Enjoy lunch upon your return to the boat. There is time to relax on deck, or in your cabin, before we set sail for Edfu. Generally the journey from Luxor to Edfu takes place between 1pm an 11 pm, though the departure time may vary, depending on river traffic. En route to Edfu we pass through the Esna Lock and head upstream.
Special Information
Please note: Entry to the Tomb of King Tutankhamun is not included in today’s scheduled activities. Tickets cost approximately USD $20 and can be purchased on-site with assistance from your trip leader. Be aware that there may be long queues, so plan accordingly to allow enough time for your visit.
Today we will moor near Edfu – home to ancient settlements and temples, as well as a bustling town centre and a bazaar.
Later we'll return to the boat where we’ll continue travelling upriver, with plenty of free time for relaxing on the sundeck and taking in the surrounding sights – from fishermen casting nets and farmers working their land to the desert hills that frame the lush riverbanks.
This afternoon we'll arrive at Kom Ombo Temple. Set dramatically on the bank of the Nile, 47 kilometres north of Aswan and 168 kilometres south of Luxor, the soaring, chunky columns of the double temple are a magnificent sight to behold as you arrive from the river.
Dedicated to the gods Sobek and Haroeris, the temple's finely carved reliefs give a sense of this area's prominence as capital over the surrounding region during the Ptolemaic era. Today, Kom Ombo may be a sleepy agricultural backwater surrounded by sugar cane fields, but its prime position along the Nile meant it was once one of Upper Egypt's most important centres. Wander through the temple's colonnades, gazing up at scenes of kingly propaganda, and you'll get a sense of this rich history for yourself.
Return to the cruise boat where you’ll continue travelling upriver towards Aswan.
Please note: the only mode of transport available to visit the Temple of Edfu is by locally managed horses and carriages. As a business that seeks to promote responsible travel, animal welfare is extremely important to us at Inspiring Vacations, and unfortunately, some operators of the horse and carriages have been found to be in breach of our animal welfare guidelines. It is for this reason we do not include the visit the Edfu Temple. While we recommend that you do not use the horse and carriage to visit the Temple, the decision is ultimately up to you and your guide can help arrange transport and ensure the best horses are used.
Today you will awake before sunrise for an early morning start. Sit back and relax as you drive to the ancient Abu Simbel temples, near the southern Egyptian border. You will have an early arrival into Abu Simbel to view one of the most incredible sights you will see. The two enormous sandstone structures were built in the 1200s BCE by Ramses II to serve as lasting monuments to himself and his favourite wife Nefertari. The larger temple, dedicated to three major Egyptian deities, features four large statues of Ramses II on its façade, while the smaller temple is dedicated to the goddess of love, Hathor, with statues designed to embody Nefertari.
Set on the banks of the artificial Lake Nasser, the structures were once in danger of being flooded with the construction of the Aswan High Dam but were saved via an extensive project to cut the temples into pieces and move them to higher ground, where they are seen today.
On our return to Aswan the rest of the day is free for you to make your own discoveries.
This afternoon, we'll enjoy a sailboat ride around the Nile River islands in a traditional felucca (a small, traditional Egyptian sailboat).
Philae Temple is situated on an island just south of Aswan. It was built by the last dynasty of ancient Egypt, the Ptolemaic. The temple is dedicated to Isis - the goddess of healing, magic and birth, her husband Osiris and their son Horus.
Take a 20-minute drive from Aswan to the dock, where you will embark on a 20-minute boat ride to Agilkia Island, where the Philae Temple complex is located. You will have approximately 2 hours exploring the island and temple before returning to Aswan by boat and road vehicle.
Start: pending Cairo to Aswan flight
Duration: 3 hours
Inclusions: return transportation (boat and road vehicle) from Aswan to Agilkia Island, entrance into Philae Temple complex
Sunsets in Aswan are truly magical and there is no better way to experience them than on a traditional felucca.
Meeting at the reception, make the short walk to the dock where you will embark the felucca and cruise for approximately 2 hours on the Nile River. Sail around the enchanting islands of Aswan. As the sun begins its descent, the sky will transform into a canvas of mesmerising hues, painting the Nile River in shades of gold, orange and crimson. Reax and sock in the breathtaking scenery while enjoying refreshing drinks on board.
Start: 4:00pm
End: 6:30pm
Inclusions: drinks onboard the felucca
Today we will leave Aswan and make the short flight back to Cairo. On our return to Cairo enjoy your free time relaxing or doing some last-minute sightseeing.

Trip Suitability
Travel Safety
While the Middle East can occasionally experience periods of unrest, we remain vigilant and follow official guidance at all times. Please be assured that your safety is our top priority. We continuously monitor the Australian Government’s travel advice on www.Smartraveller.gov.au for all destinations and work closely with our trusted local partners to ensure your safety at all times. If any situation arises that may impact your travel plans, we’ll be in touch with updates and next steps.
Itinerary Changes
Please note that as part of our commitment to constantly improving our passenger experience, there may be itinerary changes between the time of booking and when you travel. These changes are always made with your experience in mind and will be clearly communicated in advance if they affect your booking.
Accommodation
The accommodation listed is subject to change. Any changes will be of an equal or higher standard. Bedding configurations (double or twin) are requests only. All efforts will be made to meet your preferences, but we can not guarantee your request will be available at all properties.
Visas & Entry Requirements
Many countries require a visa and obtaining the correct visa for your tour and any countries you may transit through is your responsibility. We recommend you check your visa requirements as soon as you have booked your tour. This will ensure you have time to prepare your documents and for your visa application to be processed. You can check the visa entry requirements for your nationality via our page here:
https://inspiringvacations-8357211.hs-sites.com/visa-information
You’ll need a valid passport to travel internationally and most countries require your passport to have a minimum of 6 months validity, so remember to check the expiry date.
We need your passport information to get everything ready for your tour so the information on your booking must match your passport exactly. Please take care to provide the correct details. We recommend carrying a copy of the photo page of your passport while travelling and leaving a copy at home with family or friends
Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is strongly recommended on all our tours. We require that at a minimum you are covered for medical expenses including emergency repatriation. It is also important to consider forced pre-tour cancellations and how your chosen insurance policy may cover such circumstances, so please keep this in mind when choosing your provider.
We strongly recommend all travellers have a policy that also covers personal liability, cancellation, curtailment and loss of luggage or personal effects. For international tours, you will be asked by your tour leader for your travel insurance details if they were not already added to your Traveller Hub account pre-departure.
If you have credit card insurance your Inspiring Vacations tour leader or local guide may require details of the participating insurer/underwriter, the level of coverage, policy number, and emergency contact number rather than the bank's name and your credit card details. Please contact your bank for these details before arriving in-country.
Before you depart, you will be asked to submit your Travel Insurance details through the booking holder's Traveller Hub account through the Inspiring Vacations website. This is to ensure that we have this information readily available should we ever need it.
Health & Wellness
All travellers need to be in good physical health to participate fully on this tour. Our group tours are designed to immerse you in incredible sights and activities, often involving walking tours and self-exploration. To ensure you can fully embrace every moment, we recommend a moderate level of fitness for all of our tours.
When selecting your tour please make sure you have read through the itinerary carefully and assess your ability to manage and enjoy our style of travel. Please note that in the assessment of our Inspiring Vacations Tour Leader or local representative a traveller is unable to complete the itinerary without undue risk to themselves and/or the rest of the group, we reserve the right to exclude them from all or part of a tour without refund.
You should consult your doctor for up-to-date medical travel information or for any necessary vaccinations before departure. We recommend that you carry a first aid kit as well as any personal medical requirements in their original packaging as they may not easily be obtained while travelling. If you are carrying medication, ensure you check your government's foreign travel advice for any local restrictions or requirements. For the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others, if you are unwell before travelling, please stay at home and contact us to make alternative arrangements and we would be more than happy to assist you.
Important Information for Customers with Mobility Limitations
We want to ensure everyone has a fantastic and inclusive experience on our tours. If you require the use of a mobility aid, such as a cane, walker, or wheelchair, please disclose this information at the time of booking.
To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for the entire group, our tours are designed with a specific itinerary in mind. This may involve moderate walking, uneven terrain, or stairs. While some itinerary adjustments may not be possible, we'll do our best to find alternative solutions within the planned activities whenever possible.
Open communication helps us ensure your tour is a perfect fit and it allows your local guide or tour leader to assist you where possible.
Information for CPAP Users
If you use a CPAP machine, please let us know at the time of booking. Some portions of our itinerary, like overnight cruises or camping tours, may have limited access to power outlets. In such cases, we recommend travelling with portable battery packs.
Certain activities, like overnight journeys on board smaller vessels, may not be suitable for CPAP use due to space limitations or noise concerns. We can discuss these potential limitations upfront and help you make informed decisions about your tour.
Please ensure that you check the voltage used throughout the countries you are travelling to and if it will be compatible with your machines. For example, Japan runs on 100 volts vs Australia at 220-240 volts, meaning a voltage converter might be required.
Documentation
Tour documentation is typically emailed to the lead passenger or your travel agent between 14-30 days before your scheduled departure. This will include your final hotel list.

Starting Point
Your starting hotel may differ from the original itinerary. Please refer to your final documentation which will be provided approximately 14-30 days before departure for your confirmed hotel list. If you need to book pre-tour accommodation independently, we suggest you do this only once you have received your final hotel list for your tour. If you would like to book something sooner, we recommend that you book using a flexible rate that can be cancelled through your chosen third-party provider without penalty.
Travellers will arrive at various times throughout the day depending on flights booked. If arriving before standard check-in time, which is generally 3pm, you are welcome to leave your luggage at hotel reception and explore your surroundings until check-in becomes available as there are no scheduled activities on day 1 of the itinerary. The hotel may grant early check-in, however this is strictly subject to availability and at the hotel’s discretion.
Note: if you need to apply for a tourist visa before departure, we recommend using the details of the suggested hotel on the tour itinerary if you wish to fulfil this before the release of your final tour documentation. Please refer to our visa section for more information on whether or not a visa is required for your destination.

Travelling in a group
Travelling in a group means you will experience both the pleasures and perhaps at times, some of the frustrations of travelling with people you don’t know. The good news is you all have at least one thing in common: a love of travel and exploration. Your fellow travellers will probably come from different parts of the world, and fall into different age groups. We ask you to be understanding of the various needs and preferences of your group—patience with your fellow travellers is sometimes required for the overall benefit of the group.
We kindly ask that when you are requested to be at a place at a certain time that you respect this request from your tour leader or local guide. Due to privacy reasons, we are unable to provide you with contact details and any personal information about your fellow travellers booked on your tour before departure.
Community Guidelines
Inspiring Vacations does not tolerate any kind of violence, harassment (whether physical, verbal or sexual), or disrespect toward fellow travellers, our teams (Inspiring Vacations Tour Leaders and local expert guides) or local communities.
Any behaviour that prevents your Inspiring Vacations Tour Leader from continuing the itinerary as planned, breaks local laws or opposes any of these guidelines, may result in Inspiring Vacations removing you from the tour.
If something concerns you during your travels, please speak to your Inspiring Vacations Tour Leader immediately. Alternatively, when you are on-tour and require immediate support you can contact our Customer Support team and select the “On-Tour” option when listening to the options.
Inspiring Vacations Tour Leader vs. Local Guide
While both tour leaders and local guides enrich your travel experience, their roles differ. Tour leaders, who often accompany you for the entire tour, handle logistics, ensure smooth sailing of the itinerary, and act as your point of contact for any concerns. They might provide general information about destinations, but in-depth historical or cultural knowledge often comes from local guides. Local guides, frequently native to the area, lead tours at specific sites or attractions, offering a deeper understanding of the local history, art, or way of life.
Coach Transportation
The size of your coach will comfortably accommodate your group. There's usually room for some extra seats, ensuring a relaxing journey.
Morocco can be very hot, especially during the summer, and at times, the air-conditioning on the coach may not be fully efficient. While we strive to provide comfortable coaches, the overhead air-conditioning may not always provide sufficient cooling in the intense summer heat.
While the exact coach style may vary depending on the departure, all our coaches offer comfortable seating. Keep in mind that Wi-Fi and charging outlets might not always be available. To stay connected and avoid dead batteries, we recommend fully charging your devices beforehand or bringing a portable charger.
For longer journeys, we'll make sure to include ample restroom breaks along the way, so you can freshen up and recharge at your convenience, as facilities are not on-board the coach.
Itinerary Changes
Sometimes, unexpected things can happen, like unpredictable weather or higher-than-usual crowds at attractions. In these situations, your tour leader might need to adjust the itinerary slightly to improve your overall experience.
This flexibility ensures you get the most out of your tour! Your tour leader will always keep you informed of any changes and explain the reasoning behind them. Remember, when travelling with a group, sometimes going with the flow can lead to even more amazing experiences.
Staying Connected
If you want to stay connected and access reliable internet while on tour, there are a few options available. It is possible to purchase a virtual sim and we recommend contacting your mobile phone provider for assistance. You can add a roaming data plan to your existing phone contract is another option, albeit an expensive one. You will need to arrange this before departure.
We also recommend downloading WhatsApp and using this to communicate with other group members while on tour, and of course, after the tour if you’d like to stay in touch. Our tour leaders may also use this as a means of communicating essential tour information with you, as well as if you choose to add-on transfers to your booking, as your driver may use this to confirm arrangements with you.
Getting Around
This tour will use private coaches, international and domestic flights, and cruise. For coach journeys, where applicable there will be comfort stops along the way where you can freshen up, stretch your legs, use the bathroom and often, purchase refreshments. Generally, lunch stops will be taken at rest stops as they can easily accommodate our large groups.
For further information on your cruise, please see Cruise Details above.
In remote areas of Morocco, roads can be uneven and unpredictable, leading to occasional bumps and a less smooth ride, but our experienced drivers navigate these conditions with care.
Travel Times
While exploring Morocco and Egypt some days will feature longer drives as we journey through stunning landscapes and connect iconic destinations. Though these travel days can feel lengthy and occasionally a bit uncomfortable, our comfortable coach, scenic views, and planned breaks will help make the journey more manageable, ensuring you're ready for the next unforgettable experience.
In Morocco, coach drivers must follow regulations that ensure safety by limiting continuous driving time and mandating rest breaks. Drivers are usually allowed to drive a certain amount of time continuously before they are required to take a break. After these continuous driving periods, drivers must take a break of at least 30 to 45 minutes. Most modern coaches are equipped with a digital tachograph, which automatically records driving time vs breaks and rest periods.
Hotel Ratings
Star ratings can differ between countries, reflecting diverse standards and amenities. To give you the most accurate picture possible, we don't just rely on a single source for hotel ratings. We go beyond by researching various trusted travel websites like Tripadvisor and Booking.com. This allows us to analyse a wider range of genuine customer reviews and experiences, giving you a well-rounded understanding of the hotel's typical star rating.
This means you can book with confidence, knowing the hotel has a strong track record of satisfied guests.
Accommodation Details
We have carefully selected 3 to 5-star hotels, as well as boutique Riads and Kasbahs, to ensure your comfort and enjoyment. Our accommodations reflect the best available options, tailored to our style of travel. In Morocco, while the accommodations might be more of a local experience when compared to European standards, they offer an authentic local experience. This blend of charm and cultural immersion adds a unique and enriching element to your journey.
Packing Essentials
What you need to pack for your tour will vary according to the trip style you have chosen, the countries you are visiting and when you are travelling. We recommend you pack as lightly as possible, ensuring that you can carry and lift your luggage, and walk with it for short distances or up or down a flight of stairs.
A lockable suitcase with wheels is ideal for this trip. Many tours will include internal flights which often have luggage weight restrictions, and it is recommended that you keep your main luggage weight around 15kg and no more than 20kg. A small or medium-sized backpack (45-50 litres) is another good option. You'll also need a day pack/bag to carry water, a camera, a jacket, and your essentials while touring during the day.
Clothing: Pack a mix of lightweight and warm layers. Long sleeves and pants are beneficial for mosquito protection. Choose clothes that are easy to wash and dry.
Footwear: Closed-in shoes are recommended to protect your feet from injuries and potential bites or stings, whether you're walking in urban areas or through nature.
Sun Protection: Bring a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses to shield yourself from the sun.
Warm Gear: Desert can get cold at night. A light, warm waterproof jacket is advisable.
Medical Kit: It's good to carry personal items like mild painkillers, electrolytes, Band-Aids, and insect repellent. Ensure you are travelling with any prescription medication that you may need.
Water Bottle: A capacity of at least 1.5 litres is recommended to reduce the environmental impact of bottled water.
Camera/Phone: Don’t forget to bring something to capture memories.
Comfort Items: Earplugs can help with noisy environments, a good book or journal for downtime, and a music player for entertainment.
Please take note of the following important instructions regarding luggage for this tour:
Luggage Limit: Due to limited space in the bus luggage compartments, it is crucial that each person limits their luggage to one piece weighing a maximum of 20kg. Additionally, you are allowed a carry-on pack that should easily fit under the seat or in small overhead compartments.
By following these guidelines and packing light, you will ensure a smooth and hassle-free travel experience during the tour.
Climate
Morocco's climate varies by region, offering diverse experiences for travellers. Coastal areas like Casablanca and Essaouira enjoy a Mediterranean climate with mild, wet winters (10-20°C or 50-68°F) and warm, dry summers (20-30°C or 68-86°F). Inland cities such as Marrakech and Fes experience hotter, arid conditions, with summer temperatures often exceeding 35°C (95°F) and cooler winters averaging 5-15°C (41-59°F). The Atlas Mountains and desert regions, including Merzouga, see extreme temperature variations, with scorching days and chilly nights. Spring (March to May) and fall (September to November) are ideal times to visit, offering pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds.
Egypt has a mostly desert climate, with hot, dry days and cooler nights. Summers (May to September) can be extremely hot, especially in southern areas like Aswan and Luxor, where temperatures often exceed 40°C. Winters (November to February) are mild and pleasant, with daytime temperatures averaging around 20–25°C, though evenings can be chilly, particularly in the desert and on Nile cruises. Rain is rare but possible along the Mediterranean coast and in Cairo during winter. Sun protection is essential year-round, and it’s a good idea to pack layers to adapt to shifting temperatures between day and night.

Currency and ATMs
In Morocco, the currency is the Moroccan Dirham (MAD). ATMs are prevalent in major cities and tourist destinations such as Marrakech, Casablanca, and Fes. However, in more remote areas, ATMs may be scarce, so it's prudent to withdraw cash in larger towns before venturing into rural regions. Inform your bank of your travel plans to avoid any potential issues with card usage. While some hotels and restaurants in urban centres accept credit cards, smaller establishments and markets often prefer cash payments. Be mindful of carrying smaller denominations for easier transactions and bargaining in souks (markets).
The local currency is the Egyptian Pound (EGP). Cash is widely used, especially in markets, smaller shops, and rural areas, so it’s a good idea to carry some small notes for tips and everyday purchases.
ATMs are common in cities, tourist areas, and airports, and usually offer good exchange rates. That said, machines can occasionally be out of service or run out of cash — especially in smaller towns — so don’t rely on them entirely.
Credit and debit cards are accepted in many hotels, restaurants, and larger stores, but not everywhere. Visa and Mastercard are the most widely accepted.
Tips:
Egypt is still a cash-friendly country, so it’s best to be prepared.
Food and Allergies
Moroccan cuisine is a feast for the senses, blending rich spices, tender meats, and vibrant vegetables into dishes like tagine, couscous, and flavorful pastries such as pastilla. Experience the aromatic delights of mint tea, indulge in fresh seafood along the coast, and savour the cultural tapestry of Morocco through its diverse culinary traditions.
Travelling in Egypt offers a delicious journey through bold, hearty, and fragrant flavours. Feast on koshari, a popular street food made from rice, lentils, pasta, and crispy onions, or try ful medames, a savoury fava bean dish often eaten for breakfast. Grilled meats, like kofta and kebab, are staples, while molokhia, a green soup made from jute leaves, offers something more local and traditional. Sweet treats include basbousa (semolina cake) and baklava, often served with strong, sugary Egyptian tea or a small cup of Arabic coffee. Egypt’s food reflects its long history and cultural mix, simple, satisfying, and full of flavour.
While travelling with Inspiring Vacations you'll enjoy iconic sightseeing, as well as experience the vast array of local cuisines. While many meals will be eaten together with your group, not all meals are included in your tour which gives you maximum flexibility in deciding where, what and with whom to eat. If you have dietary requirements and/or food allergies, please let our Customer Support Team know before departure. Your Inspiring Vacations tour leader or local guide will also be able to give suggestions on which restaurants to try during your trip. For those with a particular food allergy, your Inspiring Vacations Tour Leader will endeavour to advise the main ingredients in the dishes consumed. It is, however, still your responsibility to ensure that you do not ingest any problematic ingredients.
Tap water in Morocco and Egypt is not recommended for drinking—please use bottled water for drinking and brushing teeth.
Local Customs
In Morocco, dress modestly, especially in rural and conservative areas, covering shoulders and knees, particularly when visiting mosques or religious sites. Enjoy the art of bartering in Morocco's vibrant souks, where negotiating prices is customary. During Ramadan, respect fasting hours and avoid eating, drinking, or smoking in public during daylight hours as a sign of consideration for those observing this religious practice.
Egypt is a predominantly Muslim country where traditions are shaped by religion, hospitality, and social respect. Modest dress is appreciated, particularly when visiting mosques or rural areas — it’s best to cover shoulders and knees, and remove shoes before entering religious sites. A friendly greeting in Arabic, like salaam alaikum (peace be upon you), is often met with a warm smile.
In markets and tourist areas, you may encounter very persistent sellers, haggling is common, and it’s okay to politely decline and walk away if you're not interested. While the sales approach can feel forceful at times, staying calm and firm is usually the best way to handle it.
Understanding and respecting these local customs will enrich your travel experience in Morocco, fostering positive interactions with locals and deeper cultural appreciation.
Dress Code
In Morocco and Egypt, a more conservative approach to dress is appreciated, especially in rural and religious areas. Both men and women should dress modestly, covering shoulders, knees, and cleavage. Loose-fitting, lightweight clothing is suitable for warm weather, and women may want to carry a scarf to cover their heads when entering mosques. Respect for local dress customs fosters cultural sensitivity and enhances your experience while travelling through these diverse Mediterranean and North African destinations.
Responsible Dining
Avoid consuming endangered species or items harvested unsustainably. Be respectful of local customs and food practices, and always tip fairly to support local workers. Responsible dining helps protect the environment and promotes the well-being of local communities.
Tipping Your Leader
A friendly reminder that tipping is not included in your package. At the commencement of your tour, your tour guides will suggest contributing towards a ‘tipping kitty’ which can then be used to tip local guides, hotel staff, driver, etc. The tipping kitty is a system, whereby everybody contributes an equal amount, and the leader uses the kitty to pay the tips for any included activities, while keeping a running record of all money spent. You will have complete visibility over amounts tipped and any funds left will be distributed back to travellers. This tipping kitty is not mandatory, however, over time we’ve found it frees travellers from the stress of keeping the right change at hand and not knowing appropriate tipping amounts. We suggest the local equivalent of $5-7USD per day in both Morocco & Egypt.
Tipping for your guides will be collected at the conclusion of their services. To remove the uncertainty and stress of not knowing how much is appropriate to tip we recommend USD$6-8 per person per day. The amount you wish to contribute is dependent on the services received and at the complete discretion of the guest. Thank you for your understanding.
Peak Travel Times
Morocco's peak season aligns with cooler weather from September to May, ideal for exploring cities like Marrakech and Fes.
The most popular time to visit Egypt is from October to April, when the weather is milder and more comfortable for sightseeing. This is considered the peak season, especially around December and January, when major sites can be busy and prices may rise.
Summer (June to August) sees far fewer tourists due to the intense heat, particularly in the south. However, this can be a good time to visit if you prefer fewer crowds and don’t mind high temperatures.
Ramadan, the Islamic holy month, is observed across both countries, and dates change each year. Travelling during Ramadan offers a unique cultural experience, but it may also mean shorter hours at some attractions and limited food service during daylight hours.
During Ramadan, which shifts annually according to the Islamic lunar calendar, travel in Morocco and Egypt may experience unique dynamics. While it offers a culturally rich experience, travellers should be mindful of reduced business hours, particularly for dining and tourism services during daylight hours. Planning ahead allows travellers to navigate these cultural nuances and enjoy their journey through these vibrant Mediterranean and North African destinations.
Safety and Security
Most national governments provide regularly updated foreign travel advice on safety issues involved with international travel. We recommend that you check your own government's advice for the most up-to-date travel information before departure and ensure that your travel insurance covers you for all destinations and activities on your trip.
Your Inspiring Vacations Tour Leader or local representative will accompany you on all included activities listed on the itinerary, however, you'll have some free time to explore on your own. While your Inspiring Vacations tour leader or local guide will assist you as best they can with your requests and the options available outside your itinerary, please note Inspiring Vacations makes no representations about the safety of the activity or the standard of the operators running the activity. Please use your judgement when selecting an activity in your free time.
Please also note that your Inspiring Vacations tour leader or local guide has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the itinerary if it's deemed necessary due to safety concerns.
In Morocco, while tourist areas are generally safe, travellers should remain vigilant against petty crime and scams, particularly in crowded places and markets. Avoid isolated areas and be cautious of offers from strangers, including unsolicited guides or overly persistent vendors. Exercise discretion with valuables and avoid displaying wealth. Respect local customs and dress modestly, especially in rural and conservative areas.
Tourist areas in Egypt are generally safe, but travellers should take common-sense precautions. Petty crime such as pickpocketing and scams can occur, particularly in busy areas like markets, tourist sites, and transport hubs. Avoid displaying valuables and keep your belongings secure.
Vendors and unofficial guides can be very persistent — it’s okay to firmly say no and walk away. Be cautious of unsolicited offers, including “help” at ATMs or invitations to shops. In unfamiliar areas, especially after dark, it’s best to travel with others or use reputable transport services arranged through your hotel or guide.
Respect local customs by dressing modestly, particularly in rural or conservative areas, and always ask before taking photos of people. By staying aware and respectful, most travellers enjoy a safe and rewarding experience in Egypt.
Apps to Download
Some useful apps you may want to consider downloading before your tour include Google Translate, the lens function is especially useful when wanting to read product labels, signs, and menus. Google Maps with offline maps downloaded is great for easy navigation without being reliant on wifi.
Post-Tour Feedback
Once your booking is confirmed, you will receive a link to a post-purchase survey, which is your opportunity to share your feedback with us on your booking experience and interactions with our Sales and Customer Success teams. This feedback is invaluable to ensure that we are servicing our customers to the best of our ability.
Furthermore, towards the end of your travels and while you are in your destination, you will receive an email from us with a link to an in-depth trip survey. Your tour leader or local guide may also provide you with a QR code that you can scan using your device to access our survey straight away. It is very important to us that we hear from our customers to ensure that we continue to meet and exceed customers' expectations, so this will be your opportunity to let us know how your trip has been, what has worked well and potentially what could be improved.
Finishing Point
Your finishing hotel may differ from the original itinerary. Please refer to your final documentation which will be provided approximately 14-30 days before departure for your confirmed hotel list. If you need to book additional post-tour accommodation, please do so once you have the final hotel list. We recommend booking a flexible rate that can be changed or cancelled without penalty should there be any unforeseen changes to your booking.
Travellers will depart at various times throughout the day depending on flights booked. Check-out time is generally from 10am-12pm. You are welcome to leave your luggage at the hotel reception and spend your final moments of free time exploring the area or please speak with hotel staff if you would like to extend your check-out time. This service is subject to availability and will likely come at an additional cost payable directly.
Departure Details
Airport transfers are included as part of your package, so long as you are departing as per the purchased itinerary or purchased any post-tour accommodation through Inspiring Vacations. If you have purchased your own extension, the applicable transfer service will be forfeited from your package and you will need to make your arrangements to the airport.
Where the service remains included, your tour leader will confirm the pick-up time from your hotel to the airport and this will depend on the flight that you have booked. Generally, you will be required to be at the airport approximately 3 hours before your scheduled departure.
This package is a Flight Add-on package
This package has the option of adding international airfares to your booking when selecting your departure city. Select your departure city after clicking ‘Book Now’ and a cost will be stated next to your selected departure city. This cost will then be added to your booking and international flights will be added to your booking.
Visit our Flight Hub for more information on terms and conditions, amending your flights and information on luggage allowances.
