Sally’s passion for travel all began after a school trip to East Timor when she was 16. Three weeks of discovering the untouched Erima district ignited her love for exploring new places and meeting new people. It was also at this time that her love for group travel started: “We walked onto the plane barely more than acquaintances, and left like a family bonded by the experiences we shared together,” she recalls. Nearly 10 years on, Sally is still in regular contact with the group, friends for life.
Sally’s most memorable trip was an epic four month adventure around South America. The group was made up of mostly Australians and English travellers, beginning to feel a little homesick when Easter rolled around. “Easter eggs, believe it or not, are hard to come by in Bolivia and after visiting what seemed like every supermarket in Potosi, I found a shop that sold Easter eggs and stocked up before we headed out to Salar de Uyuni,” recalls Sally. On Easter Sunday morning, the group had an egg hunt before sitting down for a pancake breakfast with the guides and family that owned the homestay they were staying at. “We went around the table and all mentioned something we were grateful for, and it is a time I hold close in my heart.”
It’s no coincidence then, that Sally decided to pursue a career in travel and is Inspiring Vacations’ Reservations Team Leader, making our customers’ travel dreams come true on a daily basis. “Every time I chat with our lovely customers, something new – a destination or activity – gets added to my bucket list!”
