Travellers will be arriving at various times throughout the day. If arriving prior to standard check-in time, which is generally 3pm local time, you are welcome to leave your luggage with hotel reception and explore your surroundings until check-in becomes available, as there are no scheduled activities on Day 1 of the itinerary. The hotel may grant early check-in, however this is strictly subject to availability and at the hotels discretion.
Foodies will be in heaven today. Meet your local guide before starting the day at Toyosu Wholesale Fish Market where you will experience all the action of the tuna auctions. A highlight of the temple are the 500 Statues of Rakan, each with its own facial expression.
Continue to Honmaru Goten, built in 1848, it is the only surviving building of the former Kawagoe Castle before visiting Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine, also known as the matchmaking shrine. This stunning shrine boasts gardens with trees over 600 years old.
Next, walk to Kashiya Yokocho, a little stone-paved street lined with shops selling traditional Japanese sweets. Maybe try the famous red bean paste or sweet potato cakes
