Welcome to Zagreb! Upon arrival to the airport, you will be transferred to your hotel for tonight. At 3pm be sure be at the hotel's reception to join a panoramic tour of the city. Joined by a local guide we will admire Zagreb's two hills, the old quarter, the upper city and the new neighborhoods of the Croatian capital. The visit will last about two hours.
Early in the morning, and after a delicious breakfast, we travel to Bosnia. We travel through the region where ruined houses are a sore reminder of the war and ethnic conflict that took place in Bosnia in the 1990s. We cross Doboj, the former provincial capital where Orthodox, Muslims, Christians and Jews used to live together. By midday we arrive at the picturesque town of Majlag - a small town dominated by its castle. Early in the afternoon we arrive to Sarajevo and join a guided panoramic city tour. You will learn about the conflict that existed in Bosnia and Sarajevo and walk through the historical center with strong Turkish influence (complete with bazaars and mosques). We will also visit the Tunnel of Hope, which saved the city during the siege.
Itinerary note : Depending on arrival time, this tour may be visited on Friday before leaving for Mostar.
Today we start with a short drive to Mostar, a beautiful drive through mountains and valleys. Once in Mostar, enjoy free time to stroll and have lunch in this very picturesque city. Its streets are full of life and small restaurants. The high stone bridge used to separate the Catholic, Orthodox and Muslim communities. After lunch we are on the move again and, after a short 20' drive we arrive at Medjugorje, a place where thousands of Catholic pilgrims gather and celebrate their faith on the Virgin Mary. Our next destination is Kravice, a breathtaking waterfall 25/30 m high which walls form vertical gardens surrounded by greenery. Our final destination today is Katvat, a coastal town near Dubrovnik.
Itinerary note : Kravice waterfall is not accessible from November to February.
The morning begins with guided tour of the city of Dubrovnik. We are undoubtedly in one of the most beautiful cities in Europe - hanging on a rock, surrounded by walls, by the Adriatic Sea. We start with an included cable car ride to the top of the mountains and admire the best views of the city. After, we walk and visit its historic center, a jewel of the world´s architectural heritage. This visit includes the entrances to the Franciscan Monastery and the cathedral of Dubrovnik. The afternoon is free for you to continue exploring this fabulous city.
After an easy breakfast we take off once again. Today's final destination is Split where we will take part of a guided tour of this impressive city, visiting the immense Palace of Diocletian, the Roman period palace, the alleys of the center, and of course enjoy magnificent views over the sea.
Today will see us traveling north to Croatia's first national Park: Plitvice Lakes National Park which is nowadays also a Unesco World Heritage site. Make the most of your included National Park admission and walk along the emerald blue lakes and connecting waterfalls. Later in the afternoon we continue driving to Opatija, an elegant Croatian coastal town.
Our first destination today is Postojna Cave, one of the world’s biggest caves which is partially toured by train. After this, we will travel to Bled, a stunning postcard town on the shores of a lake. We take a boat trip around Bled’s lake and a visit the monastery on the island. We continue our trip to Slovenia’s Capital, Ljubljana where we will take a guided tour and learn about this beautiful Central European city.
Prepare for one more day day of touring as we travel to Slovenia’s second most important city, Maribor. A city highly influenced by Austrian culture, where its cathedral and castle stand out. Afterwards, we will go back to Croatia arriving in Zagreb at around 3pm.
Enjoy a hearty breakfast and, at the appropriate time, be transferred to Zagreb's airport to connect with your ongoing flight.
