Where the service remains included, on arrival look out for a representative holding an “Inspiring Vacations” sign after you have collected your baggage and exited customs. If you cannot find them, try to avoid wandering around and instead stay in one place and call the emergency contact number on your documentation.
Where the service has been forfeited due to an early arrival and extended stay, we do offer airport transfers at an additional cost which can be booked via your Traveller Hub. We recommend you wait until you receive your final documentation to book transfers as your start and end hotels will only be confirmed at this point. Please note that if you are choosing to book an independent airport transfer service, your Inspiring Vacations Tour Leader cannot be held responsible for any unforeseen circumstances that may arise, nor can they resolve any concerns that you may have with your transfer service.

Exclusions
Travelling in a group
Travelling in a group means you will experience both the pleasures and perhaps at times, some of the frustrations of travelling with people you don’t know. The good news is you all have at least one thing in common: a love of travel and exploration. Your fellow travellers will probably come from different parts of the world, and fall into different age groups. We ask you to be understanding of the various needs and preferences of your group—patience with your fellow travellers is sometimes required for the overall benefit of the group.
We kindly ask that when you are requested to be at a place at a certain time that you respect this request from your tour leader or local guide. Due to privacy reasons, we are unable to provide you with contact details and any personal information about your fellow travellers booked on your trip before departure.
Community Guidelines
Inspiring Vacations does not tolerate any kind of violence, harassment (whether physical, verbal or sexual), or disrespect toward fellow travellers, our teams (Inspiring Vacations Tour Leaders and local expert guides) or local communities.
Any behaviour that prevents your Inspiring Vacations Tour Leader from continuing the itinerary as planned, breaks local laws or opposes any of these guidelines, may result in Inspiring Vacations removing you from the tour.
If something concerns you during your travels, please speak to your Inspiring Vacations Tour Leader immediately. Alternatively, when you are on-tour and require immediate support you can contact our Customer Support team and select the “On-Tour” option when listening to the options.
Connect with fellow travellers on Facebook
During your booking journey, you might have received an email inviting you to join a special Facebook group. This vibrant online community is exclusively for Inspiring Vacations travellers wanting to connect, share, and inspire one another. Joining this group unlocks a wealth of information and connections. Swap travel tips, chat with other members who have been where you’re going, and even meet others interested in travelling together for your next adventure.
We also regularly host insightful webinars featuring travel experts who share their tips and tricks for navigating your destination and maximising your itinerary. Don't miss out on this amazing opportunity to connect, learn, and get even more excited about your upcoming tour!
Inspiring Vacations Tour Leader vs. Local Guide
While both tour leaders and local guides enrich your travel experience, their roles differ. Tour leaders, who often accompany you for the entire tour, handle logistics, ensure smooth sailing of the itinerary, and act as your point of contact for any concerns. They might provide general information about destinations, but in-depth historical or cultural knowledge often comes from local guides. Local guides, frequently native to the area, lead tours at specific sites or attractions, offering a deeper understanding of the local history, art, or way of life.
Coach Transportation
The size of your coach will comfortably accommodate your group. There's usually room for some extra seats, ensuring a relaxing journey. Your luggage will be safely stored either underneath the coach or in a dedicated trailer.
While the exact coach style may vary depending on the departure, all our coaches offer comfortable seating. Keep in mind that Wi-Fi and charging outlets might not always be available. To stay connected and avoid dead batteries, we recommend fully charging your devices beforehand or bringing a portable charger.
For longer journeys, we'll make sure to include ample restroom breaks along the way, so you can freshen up and recharge at your convenience, as facilities are not on-board the coach.
Itinerary Changes
Sometimes, unexpected things can happen, like unpredictable weather or higher-than-usual crowds at attractions. In these situations, your tour leader might need to adjust the itinerary slightly to improve your overall experience.
This flexibility ensures you get the most out of your tour! Your tour leader will always keep you informed of any changes and explain the reasoning behind them. Remember, when travelling with a group, sometimes going with the flow can lead to even more amazing experiences.
Staying Connected
If you want to stay connected and access reliable internet while on tour, there are a few options available. It is possible to purchase a virtual sim and we recommend contacting your mobile phone provider for assistance. You can add a roaming data plan to your existing phone contract is another option, albeit an expensive one. You will need to arrange this before departure.
We also recommend downloading WhatsApp and using this to communicate with other group members while on tour, and of course, after the tour if you’d like to stay in touch. Our tour leaders may also use this as a means of communicating essential tour information with you, as well as if you choose to add-on transfers to your booking, as your driver may use this to confirm arrangements with you.
Getting Around
This tour travels overland through Croatia and mainland Greece using a comfortable private coach, with scenic drives between major destinations. Where applicable, there will be regular comfort stops along the way to stretch your legs, use the bathroom, and purchase refreshments. Lunches are typically taken at convenient rest stops that can accommodate larger groups.
On the travel day between Croatia and Greece, you will be transferred to Dubrovnik Airport for your flight to Athens. Please note that this flight is unescorted, and you are responsible for your own luggage and boarding procedures at both airports. Upon arrival at Athens International Airport, you will need to make your own way to the hotel.
Athens Airport is well connected to the city. You may choose to take a taxi (approximately 30–40 minutes, with fixed fares usually available), the Metro (Line 3 connects the airport to central Athens in around 40 minutes), or a pre-booked shuttle or ride-share service. Detailed hotel information will be provided in your travel documents to help you plan your arrival.
When you transition to the cruise, you will be sailing independently and will not be accompanied by your tour guide. You will have the freedom to explore each port of call at your leisure, or by booking one of the cruise line’s optional shore excursions. Please note that you will be responsible for carrying your own luggage when boarding and disembarking the cruise. We recommend packing light and ensuring your luggage is easy to carry so that you can handle it comfortably throughout the journey.
Hotel Ratings
Star ratings can differ between countries, reflecting diverse standards and amenities. To give you the most accurate picture possible, we don't just rely on a single source for hotel ratings. We go beyond by researching various trusted travel websites like Tripadvisor and Booking.com. This allows us to analyse a wider range of genuine customer reviews and experiences, giving you a well-rounded understanding of the hotel's typical star rating.
This means you can book with confidence, knowing the hotel has a strong track record of satisfied guests.
Accommodation Details
This tour combines travel through Croatia and mainland Greece, and as such, accommodation standards will vary slightly between the two regions. In Croatia, you can expect well-located 4-star hotels offering a high level of comfort and amenities. In Greece, accommodation will range between 3- and 4-star properties, selected for their location, character, and suitability to our style of travel.
When you embark on the Greek Islands cruise, you’ll enjoy the well-appointed amenities and hospitality provided by Celestyal Cruises. While accommodations on the cruise ship may differ from the land hotels, they maintain a high standard of comfort and service to enhance your experience on the open sea. Please keep in mind that star ratings in Greece may differ slightly from what you’re accustomed to, but rest assured that each property has been selected to offer you the best value and authentic experience.
As always, we've chosen the best available options to balance comfort, convenience, and value. It's important to note that star ratings in Europe may differ from what you're used to at home, with variations in room size and facilities. This mix of accommodation styles reflects the diverse nature of the journey and adds to the overall experience of travelling through two culturally rich regions.
Luggage Requirements
Luggage Limit: Due to limited space in the bus luggage compartments, it is crucial that each person limits their luggage to one piece weighing a maximum of 20kg. Additionally, you are allowed a carry-on pack that should easily fit under the seat or in small overhead compartments.
By following these guidelines and packing light, you will ensure a smooth and hassle-free travel experience during the tour.

Climate
Travelling through Croatia and Greece offers a diverse climate across regions and seasons. In Croatia, coastal cities like Split and Dubrovnik enjoy a Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers (June to August), where temperatures often reach the high 20s to mid-30s°C (80s–90s°F). Inland areas, such as the Plitvice Lakes region, tend to be slightly cooler and can experience more rainfall, particularly in spring and autumn.
In Greece, summers are hot and dry, especially in central and southern areas, with daytime temperatures regularly exceeding 30°C (86°F) and often higher in July and August. Spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) are ideal times to travel, with milder temperatures and fewer crowds. While winter is generally mild along the coast, some inland or higher-altitude areas may experience cooler weather and occasional rain.
Travellers should be prepared for a mix of conditions depending on the time of year and regions visited, especially when combining coastal and inland destinations.
Currency and ATMs
In both Croatia and Greece, the official currency is the Euro (EUR), making it convenient for travellers moving between the two countries. ATMs are widely available in cities, towns, and tourist areas, and they accept most major international debit and credit cards. Card payments are commonly accepted in hotels, restaurants, and shops, particularly in urban and tourist-friendly locations.
However, it’s advisable to carry some cash, especially for small purchases, tips, or when visiting local markets and rural areas where card facilities may be limited. In smaller towns or villages, cash is often preferred, and access to ATMs may be more limited. To avoid any issues while travelling, inform your bank of your travel plans and check for any international transaction fees that may apply. Carrying a mix of card and cash ensures flexibility and ease throughout your journey.
When you embark on your Greek Islands cruise with Celestyal Cruises, the onboard currency is also the Euro (EUR). Most payments for items such as drinks, excursions, spa treatments, and boutique purchases will be charged to your onboard account, which is linked to your cabin key card. At the end of the cruise, you can settle your account using a credit or debit card. It’s recommended to keep some cash on hand for local purchases during your shore excursions, as some shops on the islands may only accept cash, and card payments may not always be an option.
Though your meals, entertainment, and onboard activities are included in your cruise package, additional services such as specialty dining, excursions, and drinks will incur extra charges. While you’ll have access to ATMs at some ports of call during the cruise, it’s a good idea to bring sufficient cash for small expenses, tips, or last-minute purchases when you’re off the ship. Be sure to carry smaller denominations for convenience, especially when bargaining in local markets.
Food and Allergies
Travelling through Croatia and Greece offers an abundance of culinary delights, reflecting the region’s rich history and strong ties to the Mediterranean. In Croatia, enjoy dishes like fresh seafood along the Adriatic coast, hearty stews, truffle-infused pasta, and traditional grilled meats. Specialties such as peka (slow-cooked meat and vegetables) and štrukli (cheese-filled pastry) showcase the country’s diverse regional flavours.
In Greece, cuisine is centred around fresh, seasonal ingredients. Expect to enjoy classics like moussaka, souvlaki, dolmades (stuffed vine leaves), and Greek salad topped with feta and olive oil. Local tavernas often serve up home-style meals, while sweet treats such as baklava and loukoumades (honey-soaked doughnuts) are popular across the country.
While travelling with Inspiring Vacations, you’ll enjoy a mix of included group meals and free time to explore the local food scene independently. This balance allows you to experience a variety of flavours and dining settings. If you have dietary requirements or food allergies, please notify our Customer Support Team prior to departure. Your Inspiring Vacations tour leader or local guide will be happy to recommend restaurants and dishes during your journey, but please remember it is your responsibility to ensure any dietary needs are met.
Dress Code
In both Croatia and mainland Greece, casual, comfortable clothing is suitable for most daily activities, including sightseeing and dining at casual restaurants or tavernas. Lightweight, breathable fabrics are recommended during the warmer months, especially in coastal areas where temperatures can be high.
For evenings out or dining at more refined venues, a smart-casual dress code is appropriate—think neat, relaxed clothing rather than formalwear. Comfortable walking shoes are a must, as many historic towns feature cobblestone streets and uneven terrain.
When visiting religious sites such as churches, monasteries, or traditional villages, modest dress is required. Both men and women should cover their shoulders, and shorts or skirts should fall below the knee. Women may also consider carrying a scarf to cover their heads when entering churches or monasteries.
Dressing respectfully in sacred or traditional settings not only shows cultural sensitivity but also ensures a more immersive and welcoming experience.
Tipping Your Leader
Tipping is customary in both Croatia and Greece and is a meaningful way to show appreciation for good service throughout your journey. While not mandatory, gratuities are greatly appreciated by the tour leader and driver, who work hard to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience.
Tour Leader: At the end of each leg of your tour (Croatia and Greece), it is customary to tip your respective tour leader for their support, insights, and dedication. A suggested amount is approximately €5–€7 per person, per day. This is entirely at your discretion and should reflect your satisfaction with the service provided.
Bus Driver: Your driver plays a vital role in ensuring safe and comfortable travel between destinations. A typical tip is around €2–€3 per person, per day. Again, this is optional, but a kind way to recognise their efforts.
Please note that you will have a different tour leader and driver in Greece than in Croatia. Tipping should be done in cash and given directly to each team at the end of their portion of the tour, typically on your final day with them. These amounts are intended as a guideline—feel free to adjust based on your experience. Your generosity will be warmly appreciated by the team who help make your journey memorable.
Peak Travel Times
Croatia and mainland Greece experience distinct peak travel periods shaped by seasonal weather and tourism trends, which can affect both pricing and availability.
In Croatia, the peak season runs from June to August, when the weather is warm and dry—perfect for exploring coastal towns like Dubrovnik and Split or relaxing along the Adriatic Sea. Temperatures often reach the high 20s to mid-30s°C (80s–90s°F), and this is when tourist numbers are at their highest. Accommodation and attractions may be more expensive and busier during this time.
Greece also experiences its peak season in June to August, with hot, dry weather and temperatures often exceeding 30°C (86°F). Major cities such as Athens and popular destinations across the mainland become especially lively, with increased crowds and higher prices. This period is ideal for travellers seeking a vibrant summer atmosphere.
For a more relaxed experience, spring (April to early June) and autumn (September to October) are the best times to visit both countries. During these shoulder seasons, the weather is still warm and pleasant—ideal for sightseeing and outdoor activities—while crowds are smaller and prices more moderate. These months are especially comfortable for visiting historic sites, national parks, and traditional villages.
Be aware that both countries may experience an increase in local travel and festivities during public holidays and religious events (such as Orthodox Easter or Assumption Day in August), which can lead to crowded attractions and limited availability. Planning your visit around the shoulder seasons offers the best balance of weather, access, and affordability.
Safety and Security
Most national governments provide regularly updated foreign travel advice on safety issues involved with international travel. We recommend that you check your own government's advice for the most up-to-date travel information before departure and ensure that your travel insurance covers you for all destinations and activities on your trip.
Your Inspiring Vacations Tour Leader or local representative will accompany you on all included activities listed on the itinerary, however, you'll have some free time to explore on your own. While your Inspiring Vacations tour leader or local guide will assist you as best they can with your requests and the options available outside your itinerary, please note Inspiring Vacations makes no representations about the safety of the activity or the standard of the operators running the activity. Please use your judgement when selecting an activity in your free time.
Please also note that your Inspiring Vacations tour leader or local guide has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the itinerary if it's deemed necessary due to safety concerns.
Croatia and Greece are generally safe destinations for travellers, with common-sense precautions recommended to help avoid petty crime such as pickpocketing, especially in busy tourist areas. It’s advisable to keep valuables secure and be mindful of your surroundings, particularly in crowded markets, popular landmarks, and public transport hubs.
In urban areas and popular tourist spots, use reputable transportation options and avoid walking alone late at night in unfamiliar or poorly lit locations. Stay aware of common scams targeting tourists and exercise caution when approached by strangers offering unsolicited assistance or services.
Respecting local customs and cultural norms, especially in more traditional or rural areas, will also help ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience throughout your journey.
Apps to Download
Some useful apps you may want to consider downloading before your tour include Google Translate, the lens function is especially useful when wanting to read product labels, signs, and menus. Google Maps with offline maps downloaded is great for easy navigation without being reliant on wifi.
If you plan to spend time in Croatia or Greece before or after your tour, downloading local transportation apps can make getting around easier. In Croatia, apps like Moovit and Zagreb Bus & Tram are helpful for navigating public buses and trams in cities like Zagreb and Split. For taxi services, popular options include Uber (available in some cities) and local apps such as Cammeo or traditional taxis.
In Greece, the Athens Metro app and OASA Telematics are useful for planning routes on public transport in Athens and other urban centres. For taxi rides, Beat is widely used in Athens, while regular taxis are easily available in other parts of the country.
We also recommend downloading WhatsApp before you leave, as many tour leaders use it to communicate important information throughout the trip. Having WhatsApp installed will help you stay connected easily with your fellow travellers and tour leaders during your journey. To ensure you have internet access and can use these apps at all times, consider purchasing a local travel SIM card or an international roaming plan before your trip.
Post-Tour Feedback
Once your booking is confirmed, you will receive a link to a post-purchase survey, which is your opportunity to share your feedback with us on your booking experience and interactions with our Sales and Customer Success teams. This feedback is invaluable to ensure that we are servicing our customers to the best of our ability.
Furthermore, towards the end of your travels and while you are in your destination, you will receive an email from us with a link to an in-depth trip survey. Your tour leader or local guide may also provide you with a QR code that you can scan using your device to access our survey straight away. It is very important to us that we hear from our customers to ensure that we continue to meet and exceed customers' expectations, so this will be your opportunity to let us know how your trip has been, what has worked well and potentially what could be improved.
Finishing Point
Your finishing hotel may differ from the original itinerary. Please refer to your final documentation which will be provided approximately 14-30 days before departure for your confirmed hotel list. If you need to book additional post-tour accommodation, please do so once you have the final hotel list. We recommend booking a flexible rate that can be changed or cancelled without penalty should there be any unforeseen changes to your booking.
Travellers will depart at various times throughout the day depending on flights booked. Check-out time is generally from 10am-12pm. You are welcome to leave your luggage at the hotel reception and spend your final moments of free time exploring the area or please speak with hotel staff if you would like to extend your check-out time. This service is subject to availability and will likely come at an additional cost payable directly.
